I’m just interested how much running costs are for a single lorry each month, many thanks!
that all depends on lots of different factors
such as, you will get much better fuel figures from the new Merc than you ever will out of your namesake
type of work you will be doing
monthly payments for the truck
insurance for the truck (cheaper to insure the new merc than your namesake)
without giving more information, it is impossible to tell
My monthly costs, on a 2008 Renault Magnum 6x2 unit doing traction work are…
Finance (£15,000 over 35 months) £579.
Insurance £340.
Operating centre £167.
Accountant £140.
Maintenance & repairs (average) £500.
Tyres (average) £120.
VED £58.
Everything else £200-£300.
Add to that
Empty running (cheaper on diesel but you’ll usually not be getting paid)
Terrain (cheaper going motorway than cross country usually)
Driver (this probably has the largest effect on running costs of all the variables) I will get different fuel figures tyre wear machine wear than other drivers doing the same work. For example.
Area (as it has an impact of wages cost of parts, labour, premises and everything else you buy)
There are probably a million other variables which without a complete breakdown we would only be able to guess and as you know guessing where money is concerned is never best

The costs I’ve given are the fixed costs, costs which don’t vary with the mileage (except for some variation in tyre and maintenance costs), how much fuel is used depends entirely on the work done, whereas the cost of, say, accountancy or yard rent doesn’t. Personally I use about £4,000 of fuel a month.
lots on here are quoting standing charges which are the same whether the wagon runs or not. What the op is asking is running costs which are variable and as no further info given by op as to type of work doing no one can answer
