Not offended at all mate, just being pedantic at it not actually being a daft question if it’s not something you have encountered before.
To be fair I could have worded my original post better.
Speaking of being pedantic… if you knew that certain petrol cars in certain situations could run on diesel, plus there was a way to convert diesel to petrol, and you had a petrol car but no petrol but you did have a big can of diesel… surely only the grumpiest of old mechanics could take offence at the question being asked.

We need the mods to create a “kumbaya” sub-forum.

What the mods need to create is a seperate section entitled ‘Ask your questions here’ so that the more helpful blokes can drop in and offer their sage advice, while the more beligerent know it alls like Grumpy-old-*****r can just stay on the main forum and avoid getting wound up.
The thing is, the know it alls wouldn’t be able to resist having a nosy in the questions section and they would still get wound up with stupid questions.
