it is a well known problem on clios that the cruise control can be ify and when you select it you cant deselect faulty sensor but most off the time you only find out is when you cant stop and hit summat loads off clio drivers have experiencd it i dont use mine never have
My Clio - back in 1997 - was a semi - auto and had the opposite problem, sometimes when slowing down, it’d just stall. Being a Semi-Auto though, it wouldn’t bump start, so when it last did it on a corner, it would never do it again… It did a few barrel rolls and stayed on it’s roof in a farmers dry-stone wall.
No pics I’m afraid due to a small trip to the A&E
Only car I’ve ever had the throttle jam on was a BMW, apparently very common on them (and my current car is a BMW
), no warning, saw a gap on a roundabout, hit the throttle, eased off the throttle… catching car in front, still speeding up, brakes, front wheels locked, rear still driving, look for an exit, aim for an exit, impatient git thinks I’m just driving like a ■■■■ so blocks exit, so I parks it on a lamp post to avoid hurting anyone else.
Apparently I tried to hit the clutch since it was a manual and shoved the footrest through the bulkhead.
None of the people in the pic are me, 1 is my bro who’s car it was - a happy bunny as you can imagine, although told me afterwards that the throttle had jammed on him previous to this

If you look at the tyre marks, you can see where I entered, and the speed I hit the lamp post by the fact you don’t see any more tyre marks to show how it got to where it landed…
