£30 HGV parking - or £32 to include a £10 food voucher according to their website.

What a complete…

Cash cow parking is. Multiply that by the number of spaces/extra parking near pumps etc (let’s say 50 and average £31 per lorry) and hey presto, £1,550 every night/£565,750 a year for doing absolutely nothing.

I can’t think of any other country where I’ve had to pay to park. USA, Australia, Canada, Europe…all free.

Nope there’s quite a lot of places in Europe that charge now esp the autohofs in Germany

There’s a massive difference between paying for an Autohof and a UK MSA, the last Autohof I stopped in was 10 euro for parking on ordering my dinner the price of the meal dropped from 14 euro to 4 euro on production of my parking ticket, a freshly cooked meal and parked in secure area with a 6ft fence and electric gate you cannot compare the two

im not making comparisons I’m merely stating that you have to pay in some places in Europe and beyond, I’ve had to pay in Russia, cop a load of that

An update regarding the fence. Today I counted SEVEN damaged panels, with the most recent ones almost pushed right through. Also noted contractors on site effecting repairs. A bit like painting the Forth Bridge, I reckon…

I think a grasp on reality needs to be got.

You’re about the only one on this thread that has got a grasp on reality so far.

To those saying the European ones are free/gratis etc do you take into account the toll fee’s when you make that statement?
Or in some countries they charge to use the toilets etc i hear ?

My first trip…

To Switzerland I stopped to use the facilities. Upon realising I had to pay to use the traps (which wasn’t that expensive but I had no Swiss currency on me in the days before the Euro), I climbed over into the locked cubicle.
I then climbed back out, went to my lorry got my bog roll, climbed back in again, then climbed back out washed my hands and went on my way.

If 50 cent is the price to pay for immaculatly clean toilets then it’s hardly the end of the world, MSA’s are free regardless of whether the motorway is tolled or not.

+1…

If it cost me 50p to use a clean, hygenic trap that doesn’t have something unspeakable lying in wait for me and has a slight hint of Jeyes fluid or even flowers, you got my money.

£30 to park, Jesus that’s incredible. I stopped parking in services a long time ago, it’s just lazy if an experienced tramper parks in services by choice. But in the unlikely event of having to park in there due to emergency ie breakdown or crash then a bit of kitchen roll covering front plate when leaving in the morning ensures a free stay :smiling_imp:

But like the parking charges over there when you pay for a ■■■■ you get a voucher to use in their shop.

Totally agree;it doesn’t actually cost the user 50p/c does it? You pay the charge, receive a receipt and then spend money in the services and upon production of said receipt receive an equivalent discount. Nobody is suggesting that services are a charity so what exactly is the problem with paying for immaculate toilets?

Edit to add, posted at the same time as Mr Gringe.

Most vouchers last a month or more and can be used at any services under the same owners as well so its not like you take your ■■■■ and think I must buy a drink now to use the 50 cent before I leave.

And I definitely don’t take into account the tolls for the road as I don’t pay that bill.

Went in yesterday and it looks nice, although the pump in the toilets which is supposed to pump in foul service station bog stench wasn’t working. Quite nice actually without it, was just taken aback by it.

They do now according the the www. All pumps also.

Ultimate Diesel
Keyfuels available on all pumps

It’s my understanding that all Moto sites take Keyfuels cards - maybe they simply hadn’t updated the Keyfuels website when I looked.
