Rtc procedure

I’ve never been involved in a rtc that needed any medical treatment , just reading this report shouldn’t the driver have been taken to the hospital first to be checked out , rather than cop station to be charged ( especially as it’s a big rtc / rolled lorry )

Stupid cops, thinking because he was slurring his words and staggering, that he was drunk, the ■■■■■■■ idiots should have got him to hospital or at least an ambulance ffs…

There’s no information as to wether the ambulance service attended the crash scene along with the police. As it’s likely that an ambulance crew attended the scene and assessed his condition at the scene and also allowed the police to conduct a breath test while the driver was in the back of the ambulance. I doubt the ambulance crew would have allowed the police to take him to the police station if he wasn’t fit enough to go.

He obviously wasn’t fit enough to go to the cop station as he died of his injuries , I just think after a big etc like this a check at hospital should of the first port of call
I guess the coppers investigation into there officers behaviour will give us the answer ( oh hang on , no mention of a investigation !!
He had been drinking / he had a big rtc / doesn’t excuse not looking after the chap , which I feel they didn’t in this case , charging him came before anything else

Yep I tend to agree.
The Old Bill take a dim view of drink drivers, but even they would not assess him, or get him assessed before they took him to the nick.

There are laid out procedures for all this stuff, they wouldn’t dare not follow them, and if they have they will be some serious bother for them seeing as the guy has died.
Our resident ex traffic cop is on line here at the moment I see, maybe he’ll shed some light.

According to these articles the driver was arrested and taken to the police station but when he complained about feeling unwell he was taken to hospital.

It looks a big old accident to not check him out to me , but I see in Leicestershire article cops have referred it to there indecent investigation panel , so we will see

RIP driver…

I thought that after the Great Heck disaster that all rail lines were going to be protected against vehicle breakthroughs. I’m really surprised to see the truck on the ECML.

I’m going to comment on this by not commenting. Why? Because I wasn’t there and I have no knowledge of the actual circumstances.

Makes you wonder how judges can preside over court cases !

Going back to late 90s my god father . He had a serious crash .
He was way over drink drive limit. But he was that bad was rushed to hospital lost loads of blood .
Could be breathalysed etc. And got away with it.
But it did make him see sense and he’s never drank ever since.
