When I did R.M. they would not tell me where I was going ,it was always follow him. Him would be a Kamikaze,I would be left behind at the traffic lights then there would be discussions about what was wrong with my van because every one else could keep up the pace. Most of them are good blokes with a large dose of mad barstewards thrown in.The work is well paid and easy apart from the above.

Oh i don’t know about that. The good lord doesn’t extend his list of sins to falling foul of EU regulations,or at least i don’t think he does.
And if you where on for Tinne…erm an Irish International Tipper firm i dare say you’ll be SAFED trained, limited to 80 kph (to save the environment and maximise MPG), attend regular training seminars , and all the other EU compliances etc… Oh, and your arse never twitched when you passed one of them blue and yellow chequered things on the hard shoulder !!!
The reason that Royal Mail driving standards are so bad are:-
1.They will hire anyone with a licence, there are no driving tests or training of any kind.
2.Once working there you will find nobody gives a monkey about anything.there
are no checks whatsover ,nobody at the agency or in the company holds a HGV licence,1 transport manager was heard to brag “he had never sat in a lorry”
therefore you can get away with murder.

id say that for perth, they dont have any class 1 drivers based there, they are based in wishaw,
i have been used to move the artics if im there on vans only because im the only one there at that point who can legally drive it,
though i have seen folk move them who really shouldnt. there is an ex class 1 driver there but he refuses to move them due to his age, hes close to retiring
