Royal Mail, answers on a post card

I am wounding what things are like at Royal Mail now. See thay are offering owner driver contracts doing van work. Dose anyone know what this work is like, pay, hours, conditions e.c.t ? I heard driving the Royal Mail lorries was once a good number, Has this changed ? Any feed back would be great too hear. Many thanks.

My dad works on there and has done the past 30 odd years it’s works on a senior thing he’s number 3 now at his place and all he does is shunting and takes home way more then me tramping but it’s ■■■■ for the new people apprrantly,

Seen an Agy ad for £20/hr, all I could smell was bs afterwards lol

I applied to them to put a small van on parcel delivery, then I heard what they were paying per mile and couldn’t get the application in on time for laughing so much !!

The jobs will be for Parcelforce as owner drivers. They get paid a couple of quid per drop. The depot I work in have about 12 owner drivers doing around 130 drops a day, some have helpers in other vans to share the work load. One driver this week had done 164 stops with no break. The money is good, but bear in mind you have to sort cover for holidays and sickness and own van, maintenance etc.
I drive a 7.5t doing around 24 drops on bulk deliveries,I earned 31k last year…

Hope this info helps.
