in IAP 1 tcn dead but that was bad driving
injured probably about 10-15 worst being pulled muscles in neck from IED going off at side of road driver had 6 weeks back in england on 66% of money
well i have gone and done it now.
off to iraq in the morning and who got conned into being convoy supervisor

Hi all,
Well i am back again safely story and pics to follow.
well as you know from my previous post i was suckered into being convoy supervisor and what a start.
we arrived at CAMP ARAFJAN and i had 2 south africans who did not have the passes to get in so i had warned them to stay outside in the parking area and we would pick them up on the way out.as convoy supervisor you have to stay at the rear in the bobtail so when i got up to the checkpoint one had somehow got in and the other was refused so he was parked like i said.
anyway we had just finished changing trailers when the SA driver came over to me with his mobile phone saying he had an american who wanted to speak to me.
it turns out that the SA driver outside was videoing the camp and convoys going in and out and it was the MP,s who i was speaking to
i got my second in command to phone our driver manager and it turns out he was near the camp so by the time i got the convoy out and i got to the scene he was there.
anyway he left me to sort it out so this is how it went.
the MP asked me to open the container by breaking the seal as they werent allowed he then called for a K9to come and sniff in the container.then the driver was bought up in handcuffs to clear his cab out of his belongings.
we then had to wait for a MAJOR to give us the all clear to unhitch the unit and get an INDIAN driver to hook up.as there was only small legs on trailer we had to use concrete type blocks to raise it but as the driver pulled out one collapsed and the trailer tilted.as i had air suspension on i was able to get under and raise it so we could re block it so the INDIAN could hook up but 3 times he tried and got scared that he would knock it off blocks so i told him to get out and with all watching i went for it and got it under 1st time to the delight of the iraqi police who had been waiting an hr to ■■■■■■ the convoy through the oil fields.told them that was the british way
anyway no more incidents until we got to CAMP TQ a cple of days later when i get told one of the TCN,s had tried to hide a mobile phone in the steering column which as they full know they are supposed to give phones to army at border as that is how the insurgents set off some of their IED,s.so i was not happy and had to write a report on it 
.
The truck i was using did not have aircon working properly also between 60-80kph it shook and would not do more than 113kph so was not a happy bunny esp as when i got back it was the last truck to be exchanged on lease it had 630,000k,s on it.
the rest of the trip was pretty uneventful
these guys were unravelling their fishing nets across the motorway just outside CAMP SCANIA
never got off the ground
