Hi,
I’m after some route advise for tonight (approx 11pm) from Watford to Bolton. I want to avoid M1, as J9 is closed, and I was queuing for 40 minutes last night at 2am. M25 is shut j17-16 from 11pm. Does anyone know if it shuts om time or how long the diversion is?
Also can’t join M42 northbound from M40, so have to go on to next junction, and back.
To top it off j15 of M60 is shut.
Any thoughts, or am I resigned to having to take a break on my way back?

What height you running at?
If under 15ft you could go M6, M1 off at J15A, A43 to M40 J9, left into Bicester and pick up the A41 all the way into Watford? Bridge is other side of Bicester on A41
Thanks -should have put height - 13’9”.
Should be fine going south - will hit M1 before j18 closes. More concerned with getting back.
Can’t see any other way taking in to account all the closures you mentioned
Think I will have to take a chance and hope they are a bit slow on shutting the M25.

To take a break? What on earth is so terrible about having a break on the way back?
Because I will have a break in Watford , while waiting for my trailer to be tipped, (probably over 1 hour), and have only once needed a break on the way back. Two 45’s on a trip that should be less than 8 hours driving, should not be necessary.
Plus I like to be back early on Saturday’s to do Parkrun.

It’s normal for us when running down south. Every run we do to London area we get to in around 3.5-4hrs. Return you end up having to take another break because of diversions, closures, queues for roadworks.
Tell me about it I do prefer nights, but the amount of road closures is unreal. I very rarely need a break on the way back, but especially annoying on a Friday night.
Bit of a moot point now, as they haven’t loaded my trailer yet, so won’t get to M1 j18, before it closes on the way down.

if junction 15 of m 60 slip to m61 is shut have 2 choices. follow m 6 to j23 haydock island then follow east lancs a580 then left onto a579 will take you towards bolton eventually.
or take m 60 off at j13 carry on straight onto a575 under bridge thats 14 6 takes you towards farnworth area eventually back onto a 666
saying that no ieda what motowarys are closed overnights .

This I’d say. Will just say the the A575 was shut southbound the other night, they were messing about with the railway bridge at Walkden so might be better with the A577 off the Lancs and up through Mort Lane.
M25 is shut for m40 junction.

All ended well. M25 diversion took me from J17, and I joined the M40 via the A40 - added about 10 minutes.
When M60 is shut at for M61, the best route for me is to go up to the Prestwich junction, and come back round, as our yard is just off j1 of M61.
Parked up with 5 minutes to spare!
