Route Advice

Hiya…

Im hoping someone will beable to help me out a little with routing advice in South England.

Im planing in taking a trip from Glasgow to Gosport next month by car. That section of the trip is straight forward and done it many times before. I have decided to take a trip to Holland by car while im down south. This means finding a good route to take between Gosport and Folkestone…

So advice please, Gosport to Folkestone trying to arrive for 10am with least amount of traffic/driving time/miles please

Best answer you will receive a box of belguim Chocolates (Would offer a beer, But Ive drunk it all and its the point of this trip!)

Only problem is, This is subject to Insurance company paying out for my car, and a new one being delivered!

Thanks

Danny

2 routes.

one takes the motorway, one doesn’t. the difference is an hour if all roads all ways flow well.

bearing in mind some of the towns the non-motorway route goes near, I’d say that takes even longer - so I’d take the 1st option…

Thanks for the reply…

How is the traffic on the M25 about 9am on tuesday mornings? It does sound like the best plan of action but just seems a long way to go! I know the M27/M3 can be busy from 7am onwards.

P.S is the M5/A34 Junction completed yet with a new flyover?

Thanks

Danny

If it is they have made a very large mistake, the M5 is at least 70 miles from the A34.

I assume you mean the A34/M4, in which case it was completed some time ago and saves at least 15 minutes on a good day. To go from Gosport to Folkestone I would suggest using the motorways, using the coast road is a very long and slow way round, I have used it to get back from Hastings and wished I had just gone up to the M25. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re going to Holland, then go via Hull instead, unless you have to go to Gosport.

Sail on the Pride of Rotterdam or the Pride of Hull,a nice relaxing overnight cruise, good food, casino, and wake up refreshed the following morning as you sail into Rotterdam.

I went to Amsterdam :open_mouth: a couple of years ago this way,and thoroughly enjoyed it.
