With VOSA clamping down on load security and the previous talk about headboard height and how high the load is,what about round timber haulage.I see trailers without any kind of headboard and then the timber is also loaded in bays with large gaps between each bay. These trailers are ordinary 45 flats not specalist timber trailers would VOSA do the driver for insecure load?
Heard about a bit a clamp down in Scotland recently. On the dedicated timber trailers with the bolsters and some are now strapping it with a strap. Even though the timber might be 18" from the top of the bolster it’s not likely to move I’d have thought.
Once in the woods for a walk with my 10 year old son and saw this lorry loading up so we stopped and watched for a bit. Had a natter with the driver and my boy asked him if the logs ever fell off. The driver looked sheepishly at his feet and admitted under his breath that they do!
Maybe just round here but never noticed anyone running round without straps with bolsters
