I’d say it went over. Not unheard of. Oranges are heavy things, and Schimtz fridges aren’t the strongest of things. It was Irish Ferries Episilon, one of those Visientini boats that aren’t exactly renowned for their capabilities in rough weather. I was on its sister once when everything broke free on the way to Cherbourg, that’s can be a real rough old crossing
It definitely went over, that’s why the heavy wrecker is there and the straps over the trailer, the oranges will have probably broken through the sides while it was being picked up but it shows the weight of it all pounding on those cars, I guess it shows why drivers aren’t allowed in their vehicles during crossings!! The Scania got off very lightly, I’m guessing it didn’t drop completely on it’s side and was actually propped up by the vehicles next to it.
In Dublin docks now and the remains of several other trailers are laying in the port, at least 5 or 6 curtain siders plus another fridge with it’s passenger side missing, also a Schmitz possibly not the strongest of fridges,

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but they obviously would have been better off staying in Cherbourg for 24 hrs but I suppose they have their tight schedules to keep to, can’t imagine it was much fun trying to shelter off the North Devon coast either .
