Hi Dave, went past this morning, thought you would like these
I started driving in 1988 so didn’t know Edward’s as such but knew a few of the old drivers. This was just for Lorries as the buses were up in Joys Green

Larry I think Dennis will knock you points off for roping over the fly sheet .
I wouldn’t knock any points off my mate Larry ! Mebe persuade him to ride “shotgun” with me for a week to offer advice on the finer points of why you shouldn’t rope over the fly sheet !! Think he would take any notice ? No chance ! more like “who is getting the teas in at the next café” and “where are our digs “booked” to-night” and Oh! “there’s a canny boozer just across the road from the digs, and Harry Gill might be in the digs to-night eh!” Cheers Dennis and All the best for the New Year! .

And a very happy new to you & your family Dennis, Mind you I would have bought the teas and you would have bought the Steak Egg & Chips at the Coatesgate Café on Beattock,
Regards Larry.

Aye ! done again eh! I think I’ve mentioned it before about the Coatesgate café Larry but way back in about 60/61 (when I were a lad!) a pal of mine drove for Wearing Bros of Flookburgh who subbed for Robsons and he was courting the daughter of the owners of the Coatesgate café at that time, from memory her name was Jean and she was a canny Lass IIRC,she came down to Kendal a time or two,but I think it must have fizzled out probably ! Cheers Dennis.

Hiya,
Glad you didn’t mention me getting the teas in Dennis, I was only a poor
driver who could barely afford my own cuppa through working my pluck
out lining the pockets of wealthy hauliers, everybody say Ahhhhh’.
thanks harry, long retired.
I had a 45 in the Scotch Corner layby the other week, pulled up behind this John Miller motor
Was he an ex Bewick driver .
