You were the driver Dennis?

Atkis in the yard and you took a Volvo, oh dear, you know who is going to have fun with that, bloody good job it weren’t a TM or you’d have to go into hiding

we had ,in fact, just taken delivery of our first F88s!!! I was just as happy running up and down to Barrow with this little “sowing machine” cracking little motor this 150LX steering as easy as if it had power/st. Cheers Dennis. D

Could’nt have been many hills on that route if it was at 32 t or you would have run out of driving time and you’d have had to put up that old war surplus tent in a lay by for a night out. :open_mouth:

But you’ve proved that the sarge is right about something for once.         .

“carryfast” my son,you are an “oriface” of the first water and full of (zb) into the bargain I can’t understand why the Mods allow a virus like you onto the site, but I suppose its still a free country (just) and we must put up with minor irritations such as you! Bewick.

The ‘mods’ are probably all busy watching the ex pats forum to make sure that it does’nt all get out of hand again Bewick. :open_mouth:  youtube.com/watch?v=xPkKgrmgFTw

But some say that those rolled up sheets that they sometimes carried on the cab roof of those old Brit heaps were actually one of those tents which could be ordered as an optional extra and had the added advantage that it was big enough to be used as a sheet too. :open_mouth:

We never carried sheets on the cab roofs CF!! Might I suggest that you transfer onto the Ex Pats site(permanantly) and that will save the Mods a job! They’ll soon Foxtrot Oscar when you give them a dose of " the thoughts of Chairman “carryfast”! Guess who?.

found this photo of a lovely load of top heavy reels, had a lend of the 142 when my little 92 was poorly.the sheets were the ones we used for kimberley clarks,i think they were made by a firm called regentex, they were as light as a feather,we used to put our steel sheets under so we did’nt have to use those bloody bottle sheets.

.

load of waste paper, not badly sheeted ,just bad bales(thats my excuse and i’m sticking to it)
dont take any notice of the photo underneath i could’nt get rid of it.

Regentex was the trade name of the material Glenny! We used use it and our Sheet suppliers were Leeches of Liverpool and to a lesser extent Stuart Canvas of Wigan. Cheers Bewick.

The best ropers and sheeters I’ve seen (at least in ■■■■■■■■ are Lawsons Haulage of Cockermouth, no one could match them.

What a load of “cobblers” “greorge”!! How much did Jed pay you to say that? Dennis.

.

hiya,
As a driver who only ever worked with ropes and sheets when doing general haulage, I found it impossible to do a bad job of roping and sheeting it was pride in the job, i just had to do a tidy job, and never ever during a long career did i get a wet or damaged goods signature, so I guess I must have been doing something correctly.
thanks harry long retired.

Well Dennis the net as opposed to the sheet was ideal on waste cardboard ,didn`t they get paid by the ton so if it got wet it was a bonus…i know a firm who bought nets for that very same reason
