roping and sheeting

Another one done right Mr B, cheers Buzzer

IMHO the fly sheet is spot on but it is the main sheet that looks a bit untidy and is not fastened along the chock rail so I wonder why ? It would have been interesting to learn what the load was , could it be that it was a load of printed material as there was some large print works around Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley in the day and IIRC it provided the likes of a very good haulier like Masters with much of their traffic. Cheers Bewick

Hiya,
Dennis “I always even when the load didn’t cover the whole bed”
sheet the whole bed and headboard, I found you got the tighter
and a much neater looking load, the load we are looking at has
a flapper just about mirror height which would annoy me.

Hiya,
That’s spot on Dennis, I did a lot of multi drop work and my last
drop was nearly always Dundee and in the days when drivers
got their own backloads I always got my loads from J & E the lad
charge in those days was Philip Ridgeway who became a haulier
and the firm is still going today the only thing he was interested
in was your trailer bed dry, so keeping the bed dry was a must.

I guess there will be something wrong with this but it looks ok to me and I would be happy to pull it down the road.

Someone has spotted you somewhere Dan.

Heres one from your side of the Paddock SDU all though it could have been an early paddock runner.

Harry I .m sure you would be ok in this world of H and S I got a reprimand some 20 years ago for standing on the trailer deck to breakdown a last min arrival pallet of smalls
by our CEO who told me not to handle that freight so I said where do I put it as there is no room for the pallet his reply was you will think of some way and walked away , in other words he had just covered his a…se if I fell off the trailer as he had told me not to be there.
I don’t think the UK would be any different to us in the Penal settlement.

'fraid not John but he was a Pal who has passed away long since , his name is Harry Fearon of H & M E Fearon who were based at Mealsgate on the A595. Harry was quite a character typically a West ■■■■■■■■■■ “Marra”. He built his firm up from one Commer 2 Stroke in the later 50’s mainly subbing off BRS to a fine fleet of Volvos mainly F86’s and a few F88’s his right hand man John Irving another Pal of mine took the haulage business over re naming it “John Irving” Harry took over the warehousing on Workington Dock for a few years and finally retired from business and bought a pub at a place called Red Dial again on the A595 near Wigton. I’m not just sure of when he passed away but it was sometime ago and unfortunately John Irving is no longer with us either ! Two Great Hauliers in their day both ran pristine fleets. Cheers Dennis.

Unfortunately Harry with bedroom supplied behind the steering wheel no extra cash for the nights out but on the bright side there is probably a tv fridge and climate controlled unit attached to the truck.
