Rollsroyce derby

Hey guys, does anyone on here drive for rollsroyce derby,id love to know how to get on here as im very local but you never see anything :exclamation:

I think it’s dead man’s shoes mate. Drivers taken on internally. A bit like Ford’s used to be years ago, driver jobs were advertised internally and people taken off the floor.

Yep thats what i thought mate.

I may be wrong but that seems to be the way of companies like that… or it used to be before the Agency revolution!!

i used to do a bit of work for rolls royce and your best bet is just nip down there to any gate and speak to security they can point you in the right direction for someone in HR and see if you can leave your details with them you got nothing to lose…

Ceva do the logistics for Rolls Royce…outsourced it years ago, might be Rolls Royce on the trucks but Ceva operate them.

I was just about to say this, my mate started as an apprentice engineer for them hoping to eventually get a go in the trucks, but when he asked about it he was told if that’s what he wanted he’d have to apply to Ceva. I’m going back at least 3 years maybe more.

The agency (small local, one mand show) that we use also has a contract for RR working out of Goodwood. Not very regular work but they seem to stay loyal to those who they trust.

As has been said why not nip down and ask. It’ll show willing if nothing else?

Cheers lads, will nip down and see if i can get a contact

Thing is with RR Derby, you will very rarely see any vacancies advertised !

They like people who want to work for/with them, not just anyone who happens to be available when a vacancy catches their eye.

They are one of the original “knock on the door” type Co’s.

My mate went to them at age 38 & asked if he could be an engine builder, they laughed at him & said he could possibly sweep up where the engine builders work if a vacancy came up.

He then asked them what qualities do they seek for an engine builder, he went away & spent a few £k & 100’s of hrs at night school & went back clutching his wad of certificates.

He’ll never get near engine building, but he’s currently earning £48k pressing buttons on a 5 axis CNC mill.

I was on £16 per hour for day work back in 2005 on the CNCs. And the regular guys were on more than me as I was agency. Adult apprentices were started on £20k.

I have an ex Submariner friend who has just started at Rolls as a contractor.

Now, I freely admit to enjoying being a lorry driver but I find it hard to believe that Rolls recruit people, considering the expertise my friend has, off the shop floor to drive the lorries about.

I reckon, if you want the job, get knocking on the door and keep knocking on the door till you get it.

Good luck,

W

Go to CEVA nr Castle Donnington and ask there. It’s a main supply store.

IIRC, its “Extra” who they use for agency drivers, and, they use a few, the “feet under the table” crew are work shy whingers, I know this, as an ex school pal works there, and, he moans for England about the job, he`s been there 25+ years

All they want is someone to do the job as required, without too much moaning, so i`m told :unamused:

The shop floor chimps are even worse, mega bucks for doing very little, and, they still moan FFS

Yep i’ve got a few mates that work there and the work they do for the dollar they get, well i nearly fell on the floor,8 days off in a row, watching films! playing cards etc etc, fair play to em,fair to say im well jell
