Rolls Royce XFs

I often see British-reg Daf XFs on the A62 between Bordeaux and Toulouse carrying aero engines/spares. There’s no haulier name on the trucks, just ‘Rolls Royce’ on the doors, but judging by the dark blue cabs I’m guessing they belong to Cranleigh? Just asking out of curiosity as they’re the only Brit trucks I see regularly down here.

Don’t take this the wrong way but read back what your asking…if the lorries have got rolls royce on the doors and are carrying rolls Royce aeroplane engines and spares I would prob hazard a guess that they may belong to rolls Royce :unamused:

There you go. Don’t believe anything of what you hear and only half of what you see, and don’t jump to conclusions !.

Looks like they could be recruiting!!!..

I know this cos’ they are one of our biggest contracts.

It was RR’s own operation before ‘outsourcing’ it to TNT - real cushy number is was too!

Still looks like an okay job Andy - tidy kit and the drivers I see regulalrly never seem to be racing around or looking too miserable . . . although maybe they’re just content to be riding around in the southern French sunshine rather than sitting on the 25?

You are not wrong. My dad drove for them for years.

I worked at the Compression Systems plant in Derby before they flattened it and moved it round the corner. TNT had a mini depot in there. Not surprised they out-sourced to TNT, RR pay well above average wages. There’s always some bright spark who can spot a saving. Nothing good ever lasts eh.

Where is this contract based out of?

Derby i think.
See at least 1 most evenings on the A34 south heading down to the ports.

I think some of the drivers are still ex Royce’s and the trailers are their own specialist stuff. I know one lad who works for them but is only a 4 wheeler round the houses job. Royce’s still have several sites around Derby. I did see a job advertised but it was with the agency that RR use, no mention of TNT

See them alot coming into Caen on Sunday or Monday nights boat.
