Roberts opend a yard next door to SwanseaSteel morriston. the transport manager there was John Hayes, who was at the time transport man with ENTRESS. Glyn Roberts and Bill Entress, are best mates.roberts bought the dafs second hand off entress, but the Atkinsons came from J&P BEVAN, Swansea, and Praills of Hereford.

It was Gordon Roberts Dai. atkidave who is a member of Trucknet wrote a book about Roberts Transport.

was that their old yard on the right hand side going into knighton from the a49,last time i was that way it was full of tractors and the like ?

my nan used to live across the road from their yard and me and my dad often used to have a stroll around that yard on a sunday afternoon

bought a tear to my eye seeing that view again :cry:

The yard is now an industrial estate.
Roberts was a big company.Just like when swains were at church stretton,lloyds of ludlow and cadwallader.

Chuckie chicken of craven arms employed alot in their day,but sadly moved away then packed up.
My father in law was earning more working for them years ago,than he is now.
