Rob K's week at work

another good read

Yep another good read.

The new A1 by-pass is cracking on nicely and shouldn’t be long now until it’s all up and running. I have concerns about the quality of the job in places though. There are some seriously uneven bits of (new) road and with the volume and weight of traffic along it every day I can see there being road works to repair it again before it’s even been opened properly .

i think they have made a right dogs dinner of it. they have done it lightning quick (compared to that little job at bilbrough on the a64!!! :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: )

But already there are some severe pot holes appearing especially on the new bit near the a63. they have already had to relay one side of the carrigeway at wetherby and i can see them doing southbound next too!! :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Thanks for your time and effort Rob,yet another good read .
regards derek

A good read again Rob. Speaking of the electric pallet trucks from the Netto bit, I had to stop on my way back after delivering and load 14 pallets of groceries from our other warehouse. Opened the doors, backed on and adjusted the suspension to their liking. First pallet comes on, and one wheel of the pump truck goes straight through the floor of the wagon! Made a bit of a mess and it took two other trucks to drag it out. That was the end of that job! Time for a trip to the garage for my wagon now.

Thank you for another excellent diary.

Well what a week :frowning: …

And guess what company my last drop was at today … It begins with an ā€˜N’.

The site has just crashed on me YET AGAIN and I’m not typing it all out again so you’ll have to make do with pictures.

Big dummy spitting session when I saw how my trailer had been loaded. Didn’t leave until they sorted it out and marked the paperwork as receiving damaged goods. Nearly came to blows with the FLT man here (Heley’s)

Good pics, as always, Rob.

When I last did a ā€˜long post’ I typed it all in Wordpad including the links to the pics etc and then cut-copy-pasted it into the site. That way it would have to be a full ā€˜home PC’ crash to lose it and even then, if your auto-saves are set up corectly, you would only lose some of it!

Yeah I know, I’ve only got MS Notepad here though and although I typed it in there once before to stop that problem, when you paste it on here all the line lengths change so that you’ve got one full length and then the next is only half length - made a real mess.

Need to find a better solution to it. I’m not kidding, I was just at the end of Friday and did a ā€˜preview’ to check it was all okay and I got a 404 error. Clicking ā€˜back’ said I’d have to refresh the page and of course when I did that I was faced with a blank message box again. Couldn’t believe it. Could have thrown the PC and monitor out of the window a la Krankee’s avatar.

Maybe a solution would be to highlight all the text once finished, right click and copy. Then if anything happens you just paste the text back into the box.

While the pictures are good they don’t show the arguments so we need words as well. Don’t try to get out of it by saying there were no arguments this week because we all know you too well for that one to fly.

…and now we don’t know where you ended up; you know, the company that starts with an ā€˜N’ ā– ā– ?

Er, only argument I had this week was with the FLT lad at Heley’s and it was a big argument, believe me. I won in the end though.

As far as Netto’s goes, I haven’t been there this week :sunglasses: .
