Rob K's rant of the week : Rover drivers

Happy chappie, Brilliant

the best rover ever built were the old sd1’s with the 3.5 v8 man did they go

My old man had one. When the bodywork died of rust, the engine was still as sweet as a nut,and he sold the car for scrap to a lad that was going to put the engine in a MK2 Ford ■■■■■■ rally car. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Ken.

I think there’s always been particular cars that tend to end up being driven slowly, it used to be Nova Saloons (the ones with the boot) then they progressed to Corsa’s.
Rover have always attracted old biddy’s though, i mean when the MG Metro Turbo came out hundreds of them got pranged, because all the old ■■■■■ went and bought them and scared the ■■■■ out of themselves!

What ■■■■■■ me off is when they creep along a 60Mph limt at 35 then put their foot down when they reach a 30! They always hit the brakes when ever anything comes towards them too and indicate on bends in the road.

The standard of driving is just poor in general really, plenty of chavs in Saxo’s that drive like dicks too.

My own car? A Rover…

…Mini Cooper with S works conversion, i drive to the speed limit and road conditions but dont often have to slow down for corners

Glass’s Guide has Rover 75’s year 2003-2005 valued at £6.95! :open_mouth:
Thats £2 more than a Renault Premium for the same year!

I had to laugh the other day when a customer had to move his car so I could turn round in his drive (he’s a builder who has timber to his own house). He seemed to take offence that I called it a ‘car’, cos his face went sour and then he called it a ‘Rover’.

I’ve got a rover 414sli-16 valve and it goes like stink for a 1.4. I only bought it as a cheap runaround but its lovely to drive, reliable and economical   …but then again Rob, the wife and i both agree its a bit of an old ■■■■■ car with all the lovely walnut on the dash…and its green    …methinks it may be time for a change…especially after reading your’e thread

, my rover has a top speed of 80 mph and drinks diesel like its going out of fashion at 70mph so i stick to about 50-60mph on the faster roads, in town it can easily cope with urban speeds.
My rover is a LANDrover though

I once phoned the AA coz my rover would only get up to 95, the AA says whats wrong with that, so I explained to them I lived in 117

Ok I’ll put my coat on now

Nope. Don’t get it.

Rob - read this s-l-o-w-l-y. Rover is a dog and the guy lives in flat number 117

It would! The 1.4 16v was slightly quicker from 0 - 60 than the 1.6 16v however, it doesn’t match the top end of a 1.6 16v.

Had a 216SLi 16v but it got wrote off by some [zb!] in a puddle-jumper. Replaced it with a 416i two years ago. It’s passed 3 MOTs first time and I’ve never had it serviced since I bought it - not even an oil change! How’s that for reliability?!!!

The only problem I do have with it is that it can get a bit lethal in the wet - take a bend too quickly and you lose the back end!

Got one of them too - Series III Lightweight with a 3.9 V8. Goes like the proverbial brown stuff off a shovel!!!

its probably because they dont want to ruin the car as they realise they’re worth nothing nowadays     and if they drive too extreme they might need a new part which soon could be rarer than rocking horse ■■■■ to get hold of,hopefully they’ll all rust away soon and then rover will grace our roads no more

Shame its not Volvo(cars),Modeo ,Merc,BMW and all those gay handbag hairdresser cars that people drive nowadays(badly)

In fact get em all off the roads

up, with big dangerous eneconomical tank like 4x4’s,
down with crappy old rep mobiles :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: (and rovers)
