Most cars speedometers are read higher than the actual speed, so when it’s reading 40mph they’re probably only doing 36mph. However tachograph are calibrated so the when you’re doing 40mph in your truck the tacho will be reading very close to the actual speed.
^This.
At the end of the day, it’s only for a few miles and they’ll soon be on their way and out of yours!
A few miles? Have you driven on the M1 recently? I swear more of that motorway is 50 than it is N/L.
It’s murder at times… I just want the cars flying past me. I tend to only do 45 in lane 1 to make life easier for myself, but still forever keep running into cars going even slower but fluctuating their speed so your forever adjusting the stopping distance Try & overtake and they speed up leaving you looking like a ■■■.

The simple answer is; when confronted by average speed cameras it’s the first time in the journey that they’ve been forced to actually think about their driving. Normally the act of driving a car whilst in motion is way down their list of priorities which are usually somewhere along the lines of “what can I get for James and Gemimas tea tonight?”, so consequently they find concentrating on driving a tad unnerving and slow down in order to process the information.
^ spot on mate.
I don’t care what speed they do really, although I have my opinions about all the car-owners described… what makes my eyes roll is when they slow you down in roadworks which end at an ascent, forcing you to pull a full load uphill at 25mph
It only takes a couple of car drivers to slow up then the rest of the cars have no option if road is busy. Inevitable bunch ups, etc. etc, yawn. So stop your whining and negative generalisations of car drivers.
