I was going North last night and through the road works on A74. I saw this road worker with a flashing device. The device flashed twice as I drove past. I was wondering if he was checking my speed. Are they allowed to have speed camera and pass on the information to police.
Do you drive for Stobart’s? If so, probably an Eddie spotter.
Totally silly guess here, but could the roadworker have been checking levels with a Theodorlite?
If you weren’t over 50 mph…don’t worry about it.
It wasn’t stobart spotter. Limit was 40 and I was a bit over. I know 50 is 80km. I don’t know what’s 40 mph in kmph.

10mph is 16kmph 40 x 16=64 kmph
Iv been going through them early morning 12-3 am not seen roadworkers checking speed but iv seen police sat at side of cones checking
If you did 40mph…
You’d have nothing to worry about.
The simple answer to the question posed is “Yes, they could…”
The slightly more complex answer would add “…but in reality this would be very unlikely as in order to use any photos for a prosecution the operator would have to have received suitable training, just as the operators of the police camera vans do.” I would also add that handheld and portable speed cameras do not flash, since the whole purpose of the double flash is to corroborate the speed recorded by reference to the calibrated road markings to be seen at fixed camera sites - without those markings there is no point in using a double flash. If there was a double camera flash I’d suggest it was more likely someone was taking a photo of something else and had left the “red eye reduction” function of his camera switched on…

Yes…jeeeeezus! Surely your speedo is showing both mph & kph!
It wasn’t showing both. It was a digital display of only kmph. I was in the limit, I’m glad to announce.

Is that legal on a UK-registered vehicle (I’m not suggesting yours IS a UK vehicle or indeed anything, just asking a question)? I think Roymondo’s idea seems feasible - a slightly unfortunate coincidence.
Could he have been welding/cutting?

Do these Renaults only have a digital speedo? No analogue dial?
