road tax

Truckulent:
No tax displayed - it’s not legal so it wouldn’t go out with me driving it unless they put the tax disc in the window first.

Unless you potentially want a ticket don’t drive it until it’s sorted.

A ticket for what? The registered keeper is the one taking the hit.

You’ve still taken a vehicle on the road illegally - you’ll be done for something, they don’t need much excuse. It would imply you haven’t done your vehicle checks properly (failed to spot no tax), or if you do fault it, they will ask why knowing it was illegal you still drove it.

Interesting.
So if the Police issue a fixed penalty, and you decline it, what happens then? They can’t arrest you for it.

I have no idea to be quite honest lol! neverv had that problem but suppose you could be reported in some way. I read it on dvla website they could issue FPN.

Glad I don’t have to do work like that anymore, I got spoken to for taking a truck out at 18.00 Hrs on the 31st without the tax disc for the following month.

How many of you on here check the disc prior to going on the road■■?

Truckulent:
If the company can’t be arsed to do that simple task, what else is lurking they haven’t done? Important maintenance maybe?

Best comment so far. And furthermore, ask yourself has the TM deliberately put that old tax disc in there (or removed the current one) to ensure you’ve done your daily walk round correctly of your first day? You report it to him… “ah yes, haven’t had that truck on the road for a while, here’s the disc in my drawer, put it there so it don’t get nicked”.

I’d like to think that TM’s aren’t that sneaky, but having been one meself…
