Under new legislation which comes into effect from July, a vehicle can be
legally driven on the road without displaying a tax disc for up to 14 calendar
days from the date it is registered.
It is also the end of local licensing offices and of the dealers AFRL system which allowed them to make out their own road fund licence discs.
So if you get a new lorry that isn’t taxed, you can still take it out on the road with impunity.
The following DVLA offices will close on the dates shown.
All a bloody con anyway, got a road tax reminder for my car last month said it was 165 quid for 12 months tax went on line 10 minutes after the reminder arrived and it had gone up to 170.
Why do we allow these MF to screw us all the time?
Talk about bloody milk cows why dont they just take all our wages at source and give us a voucher for bloody Macdonalds every day! or is that in next years “budget”

How has that happened? The rates last changed in April, and none of them are currently £170.
For pre-2001 cars the rates are based on cylinder capacity and are either £140 or £225 per year.
For post-2001 cars, there are various rates depending on the CO2 emissions. For Band F it’s £140 and for Band G it’s £175 (these figures have been unchanged since April).
Wish you could tell me car is a 2 litre duratorque mondeo diesel 02 plate.,Reminder arrived on 20th of June and stated tax expires on 1st of July and was at an excise rate of 165(still got it) but on line the rate had risen to 170 and that rate is on the tax disc.
Colingl:
So you could have abandoned the on-line taxing, gone to the Post Office and saved a £5.
Nope. That doesn’t work. I tried that when the price for mine was to increase from 1st of the next month. Typically I’d left it too late and it was 1st of whatever by the time I went to renew it. Handed form into PO with monies and was told I needed to cough up another tenner because the price had since gone up.

Were you paying by credit card? If you were they levy a charge.

Correct, but the charge is only £2.50.
Indeed - but the £2.50 is a separate charge, and is not included in the figure on the face of the tax disc.
