Road rage and red mist

My worst was on a car park. A problem with my ticket meant I couldn’t get out so asked the driver behind to reverse. He just started blasting his horn at me. He eventually moved but as I was about to drive away he blasted it again. I got out my car and went to his window and after a tirade of expletives told him to get out of his car so I could give him a good leathering.

He declined and drove off. Good job really as there was a massive queue of witnesses plus CCTV. Any violence would’ve been big trouble for me. Fortunately he was too ■■■■■ to get out.

Usually I’m fairly calm on the road and don’t let things get to me. If someone blasts their horn at me I’ve already won and blasting it back only serves to give them what they want. And a wave and a smile really eats away at them

In a bright yellow company vehicle it’s not worth retaliating so choice words from under my breath clear the air .
Had an interesting one this week , slip road joining the dual carriageway outside lane clear so move out ( tractor ahead on inside lane so would have been moving out anyway) decide to let bus that has just joined out in front of me then speed back up to road speed when checking nearside mirror and see some silly woman racing up the inside with her right indicator on . Didn’t want to let her in as she came from behind and could safely have tucked in behind me but she undertook me and just pulled straight in front of me so cue a blast of the horn as she was that close it was scary as to what could have happened as she obviously had no clue as to what the consequences could have been for her .

When someone cuts you up you automatically hit the brakes. It’s human nature and almost impossible to avoid unless you are a psychopath … but let’s be honest here … have you ever narrowly avoided an accident where someone else has deliberately cut you up, but secretly you wished you had delayed braking for half a second and [zb] them?

I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Your crazy :grimacing:

daytime tv and wining children??

Jesus, you can win children on daytime tv now. They’ve gone too far this time

“Wining” children, not “winning” children. As in plying them with wine. There’s a difference, amateur.

Sharp as always Contra. Primates were the first to use ’ tools '.

I only passed my test 4 years ago and it’s taken a long time to chill out. I’m almost there. .

kin ell, I passed my lorry test 25 years ago and ive only just chilled out now
Joking aside, now i’m closing in on the big 5-0, Ive chilled immensely over the last 5 years driving a truck.
Most of the crap goes over my head and of the times where I really struggle for that to happen, I just think of the dire consequences of my actions should I let the red mist descend and fight back. Its just not worth it.
I watched a mate of mine literally jump from his cab onto the bonnet of car once in the middle of Reading back in 1991 or thereabouts after he was cut up.
Back then you could get away with such things easier than you can now. John Walsh, if your reading this mate- you were an absolute nutter!!

Your correct with the spelling but I was just assuming that this practice was no more now that uncle Jimmy is no longer there…

I used to rise to it several times a day but my blood pressure cant take it anymore, now i just put radio 4 on and think of nice things like cutting the grass and let all that anger rise over me, it doesnt always go to plan though

This for me too although, as you say, it doesn’t always go to plan.

Had a car pull out really slowly on me at a roundabout, kind of dithering, and I kinda lost it and gave it all on the horn and deliberately cut too much of the corner off

I had exact same ■■■■ at Edinburgh airport once , I never had enough change to get out of drop off /pick up point , I think I was 5p short or something stupid , and the longer I was looking through my pockets etc to find it I knew I was getting into deeper and deeper crap lol , so having a wee check in my mirror I could see queue getting bigger and dk behind me had elbow on his window finger in mouth and for some reason was winding me up so puts reverse lights on and he never budge so I got out and kicked off. To this day I don’t know why ?, but the best of it is the car behind was a taxi and if I’d kept my cool I could of just asked him for some change haha but live and learn !.

And sitting thinking about it I can’t even remember how I got out of there■■? , I must of crashed through the barrier or something haha.

Being perfect  :unamused: I normally rise above it but yesterday I had a bit of a weak moment on the M6 n/b at A580 junction.
This absolute ■■■■■■ in an old Mondeo done the usual last minute pull in in front of me at junction exit, only this was the last second, he braked causing me to nearly lock up, or go over the top of the retarded ■■■■, I blasted the horns and flashed my lights to show my disapproval.
That was bad enough, but when I pulled out to overtake him I saw his window come down and his hand come out, I thought he was about to put his hand up to apologise…, not a chance, I got a continuous flick of Vs.
I thought hang on, I’ve just saved this bellend’s life, and he’s now telling me to ■■■■ off! :open_mouth: I spied a portable road sign in the hard shoulder weighed down with sandbags, and for a Milli second started to pull over and force him into it, luckily I came to my senses and realized what I was about to do, but it just shows how out of character these events can make you react if professionalism fails to kick in.
I did not feel proud of my initial reaction.

That island is a nightmare at the moment with the roadworks Robroy. People coming down the slip road off the M6 aren’t sure which lane to be in to turn right towards Mcr on the East lancs.

Yeh but this was still on the M6 between the 300 chevron sign and the actual exit to the slip road.

They are always leaving it until last minute there mate. [zb]ing idiots. And then,as said, problems are still ongoing when on the roundabout. Its usually entertaining when someone then spots the Shell garage, and cuts across 2 lanes to buy a coffee!

Its scary just how easy it is to cause an accident just for the sake of “punishing” someone.

20+ years ago, I had a holiday for 3 months in HMP Leeds. Doubt the ■■■■ will do that again.

Ched:
This always happens on the M25 and I blame the overhead cameras that never go off. By the end of the week I just sit in lane 2 of 4 on the M25 and problem solved.

[zb] my back ■■■■ I am an angry [zb] looking back on all that.

Try this in any road worked zone on the M6 (J10 upwards comes to mind, why do they keep sending me up that way…). Go to over take silly ■■■■■ doing 40 in 50. Get stuck behind silly ■■■■ doing 42. Flash the lights. Wave the hands. Drive at the ■■■■■■■. That massive gap on the left? Might as well not exist, but the trucks too long to undertake the ■■■■■■■■. It’ll fit your ■■■■■■ van but not my truck. So stop making my brake and ■■■■ off out the way you rippleheaded ■■■■ wad.

Argh.
