Road Monkeys - WHY?

And by Road Monkeys I don’t mean cone-planters, shovel-props or digger seat-warmers; I mean the higher-ups, the designers, the engineers. Why oh why do they insist on placing manhole covers directly in the wheel tracks on 90% of roads, so that they get battered by 100 buses a day and all the freight too. The result is that the covers quickly drop and are as bad as any pothole.

I only ask as my current steed, the laughably-named Dennis Elite (yeah, a bin-lorry!) seems to have no front suspension to speak of, no cab suspension and no suspended seat, so every sunken manhole cover costs me big time in dental work. I now know the location of and slalom route through every freakin manhole cover within a 10-mile radius of base.

Road Monkeys - PUT THEM IN THE MIDDLE! (ie between the wheel tracks) (don’t worry about bikers - they’ll be ok)

Because that’s where the drain is
