Do you actually believe that
I honestly don’t know the answer to that one
only way to find out is send a Romanian in there to register and send a Brit in after and see what they are offering
I’ve been delivering building materials to a local site on a daily basis since it started 12wks ago. It’s a 150 bed self contained care home being built at the side of an existing one.
The main contractor specialises in this type of project & it appears to be a very well run operation.
I’ve built a rapport with ‘the lads’ on site, which hasn’t been easy on account that only 1 of them has any English. They’re all Polish & all from the same town.
They live on site. I know this because I’ve seen the cabin with 8x bunk beds. They work 12hr days, 7days a week for 3 weeks then go home for 4 days. I know this because I’ve built a rapport with Marek, the English speaking foreman.
They’re not all general labourers, they seem to be multi-skilled with at least 1 VERY good brickie (rare sight these days). On every visit they seem to be industrious, always busy, on the ball & helpful. Marek is always floating around but the rest seem willing & eager to get the job done without bothering him too much.
I would class the site as a happy site, & by christ I deliver to a few that aren’t ! It’s well run & despite precious little space for storing materials it’s planned in such a way that what I’m delivering always has a space.
Marek’s on £9ph, the pay scale drops significantly to the next lowest scale at £7.50ph for the brickies, who I would class as good as the best brickies I’ve seen in the past few years. Marek tells me everyone else is on £6.50ph. They don’t pay for their bed, but they do pay for their food.
The next time someone tries to tell me that we shipped these Polish lads over because all our lads are bone idle I’ll rip their friggin throats out & defecate down their necks.
They’re over here because to them it’s mega £money. Our lads can’t compete.
Well when a Romanian f**ks up he just buggers off back and disappears for a while, plenty more to replace him.
I will stop HGV driving come August, I have not done any DCPC, having been a pro driver for over 30 years I don’t feel the need to be screwed by the system any more.
Companies will employ these or any people prepared to work around the clock for very little money, they don’t care what they drive or where they live, have you seen how a lot of Romanians live? A cab with a night heater is 5 star luxury, there will be more and more accidents though unfortunately with drivers forgetting they were in the UK or couldn’t read the signs, the list could go on but as for English drivers getting more money - it isn’t going to happen, this has been argued for years.
Drivers were getting more than you could earn now back in the 90’s and the money has not kept pace.
I am looking at driving a Transit connect for a guy I know delivering stationary, 4 - 5 drops a day, 8am start and only within 50 mile radius, let the Romanians drive the big wheels as far as I am concerned. Pull out of the EU and scrap these stupid laws that restrict us so much and I might return … oh look a flying pig!!!
As a newbie into civviy street (ex forces, 24 years!) i keep coming across the same age old problem of foreign drivers. I hate to admit it but its becoming more and more apparent what a sorry arse state of affairs this country is in, something i didn’t realise after after leading a sheltered, if somewhat exciting life in the forces! Brings home the harsh realities of civvy street, so much so i have decided to opt for what i thought was the unimaginable…big sigh…signed back on for full time reserve service!
To clarify, RLM Jobs delivered two presentations, over two days in Romania, but we have not
registered any of those candidates to fulfil any of our temporary assignments. Nor will we do so,
unless they are residents of the UK, with the correct documentation and assessments to ensure they
meet our high standards. Nor were we there to recruit directly for Royal Mail, or any other UK firm
Quote taken from their statement to companies and candidates after a report in the Sun newspaper
If we have to be in this club, why aren’t the wages the same all over the Eurozone then people can stay in their own countries?
Oh! I forgot - thats called communism! It’s what China seems to be thriving on and making everyone else dance to their tune. Its not long ago that Dave and a bunch of his trough diggers went there with the good old begging bowl.
Don’t want communism but you have to admit its pretty similar!

Don’t have any issues with Romans, Bulgars or Polska to be honest but Frenchmen and Geordies? Well I may have to emigrate meself like!
So… Who’s got a plum full time job just recently with their full DCPC that’s helped them get it over everyone else then?
I’m thinking you might “jump the queue” for the crappy jobs, because there’s so few (but a growing number) around these days.
It occurs to me that if there was a big rack of cushy jobs just waiting (yes, for real!) for drivers with 35 hours credit already in hand, then we’d be beating a pathway to the instructor’s door would we not?
Last time I looked, the grapevine in the transport industry seemed pretty good. Either that, or 3 drivers making a crowd represents the biggest bunch of billybullcrappers in history, with less net truths per sentence than a agency consultant’s convention.

Really full dcpc get you to the front, really are you sure about that.think about it.the made up tax on drivers helped you get a job.cpc is not a hurdle to these companys.they will simply for the first week put there new drivers through a cpc course and take it from there small wages.
The problem as I see about immigration is not that they come here claiming benefits or houses but can work for less than most of us can.
I can’t work for £7.75 that a firm I drive for pays (yes I’m agency). It’s flat rate. No overtime, no Saturday/Sunday rates.
There’s 3 poles there that can and do. They share a cheap rented house, they keep their bills down by tramping all week, their cabs are better equipped than the house.
If the company didn’t have a No Cab living policy at weekends then they probably wouldn’t even rent the house.
It’s not about being lazy, I’ll work just as hard as any immigrant, I just can’t do it for £7.75 an hour!
problem not with cheap staff.any people want earn more.problem with Uk work time regulation.follow this document any company can offer to any staff -flat rate from national minimum wages and more for any shift -day,night,Sunday,Bank Holiday.Due strong comppetitions and recesions company use this.
about shares house.can you show me link or any info -who people can t live with shares house■■?

Well done you! but I’d keep quiet - some bean stealing bum licking person will be along shortly to show how much could be saved in both time and money. May even decide it could be a part time or a job share!

YEP was a requirement on application. 13 quid an hour a pension and death in service from the off. All for a total of 87 km a day oh and last week had too drag myself out of bed 4 hours before normal shift to go Romford / ilford. For the measly sum of 80 quid Had 2 job offers since beginning of this year all because I’m 35 hours approved
