River Crossings expected to be closed due to the Severe Gales Alert

Throughout tomorrow morning, both Severn crossings, the Orwell bridge, and QE2 bridge (Dartford) are expected to be closed due to the Severe Gales Alert currently in place.

Drivers are advised to plan for their journey before they set out, checking the forecast and road conditions, to leave extra time if travel conditions are poor and to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.

Road users travelling to and from Wales may wish to consider using the M4 (the second Severn Crossing) as an alternative route.

I’ve just heard the M4 New Severn crossing will be closed from 3 am.

Just seen this! Makes my trip to Swansea from Purfleet a bit of a long one if the M4 bridge is closed.

Orwell bridge on A14 is suppose to be closed from 2am
