Risk assessment

Passed C in Nov, been working for a cash and carry place for 3 months now, generally delivering to the same customers most of the time (no drama). New customer (new to company, not just me) and they’ve asked me to risk assess the place tomorrow for our first delivery. Am I right to be concerned, as I would have thought that the risk assessment would have needed to be completed before attempting delivery to a new premises. As I’m quite new to this I’d just thought I’d ask as it may be how it’s done. I’ve obviously delivered to plenty of places I’ve not been to before but these have all been risk assessed prior to going and deemed fine, which most are (but that’s another story lol)

Done the old Google Maps to give me an idea of whats what, and delivering here (in an18t)

This is worth a look hse.gov.uk/risk/controlling-risks.htm
It would be interesting to know who is responsible for carrying out the risk assessment; driver or employer? Who is then liable if something goes wrong?

Park up outside & walk in, ask questions & either reverse in or unload from the road, that doesn’t look wide enough for a wagon (don’t forget your mirrors) but pictures can be deceiving.
You need to look for anything that can go wrong & then put your mind in the lowest Common Denominator Gear-i e Monkey/Neanderthal/Thickest Plank you’ve ever met Mode- then think through what trouble they could get themselves into.
Take a tape measure & double check the width,
if it won’t fit,
they ain’t getting the ‘Sh*t’,
unless they retrieve it from the road or your remit is to pump truck it half a mile over gravel !!! Then you need to do another Risk Assessment, re-pulling your back out.
You could be there all day at this rate.

I’ll shut up now, goodnight. [emoji112]
