Rising costs - reducing rates

Hi,
there have been number of posts previously about fuel protests, fuel costs increasing, government taxes etc and the best way forward.

the reason nothing gets done is because people don’t want to take their vehicles off the road and lose money and also someone else will step into their place, so it seems pointless.

Having a rolling road seems to need peopel to not take on work for a day and join a particular road at a particular time.

What do you think about having a round a round a round about day!!!

Whatever job you are doing, wherever you are going, you will come across a roundabout somewhere along the day. Instead of going on it and coming off at your expected point - go round it three times. How many trucks would it take to block all the roundabouts in Britain - or at least cause major disruption!!!

I am sure with the help of some disgruntled car drivers who are also having to pay out a lot more for their fuel, this could help the government to realise that it is time they looked at the amount of tax we pay on our fuel compared to other countries.

What do you think?

you can do it a lot better .just buy a few jcb,s and take the for a run out during busy periods come to think of it thats what they do now

fuel protests of any sort are simply a waste of time, why? because none of the big concerns will get involved, and why should they? after all small operators going under is exactly what they want, the government is never going to listen to any five or ten wagon outfit, should they do any sort of consultation it’s with the dhl’s and stobbies of this world who’ll all say theres to many operators chasing work in the uk, that the cost of vosa policing all those operators is unnecessary and unwarranted and that all uk haulage could be done by the big outfits in a more efficient manner, i.e them!
i’m afraid for many it’ll just be a case of running until they reach the point it’s no longer worth it and go and find something else.

Paul is right. The government is never going to take any notice of the majority of hauliers in this country because individually they are too small but if they all shouted with one voice they cannot be ignored.
The trouble is they are so busy cutting each others throats you’d have more chance of finding a tonne of rocking horse crap!

The price of fuel can go past £1.50 p/l and still nothing will happen until attitudes within the industry change.
