R.I.P Lewis Beaumont
Just heard today that he has past away last week, worked all his life at Ackworth Transport Ltd until he retired i had the privledge to work under the man when i was green as grass and he taught me a lot and he was a genuine nice bloke as well, he was one off the pioneiers
of this game. he was the yard foreman at ack for years and was a steady bloke to work for as long as you did your best he was ok with that.
I remember one morning we used to watch a aussie soap and we were busy as hell all of a sudden he was out of the canteen shouting "lads lads come on Santra Babara on " that was the quality of the man the job was not always the no 1 priority.
He was a trailer mate for another old hand called Johnnie Rouse who when i first started at Ackworth Tranport he worked in the warehouse looking after the damaged stock he was another old hand that had done is time and was given a job to see is time out while he was ready to retire he used to tell me tales that made me laugh out loud true or not Johnie only had one hand and i was told he was as good as anybody at roping and sheeting.
