I was diverted off 26 at 3.30 traffic was light so delay was minimal …
As you said tragic … and at such a time of year that everyone knows …

Yes very tragic, he was obviously a bit dazed and confused when he stepped out on the motorway, got to feel for the driver who hit him .

RIP drive.

RIP to the dead driver. This is not a nice way to go! The public dont know the lengths that transport goes to to get food on the shelves or clothes for your back. Another life lost catering for the ungrateful masses!

He was doing a job, I’d rather be a truck driver than a soldier for example, why you got to keep trying to make out we’re saints or special, we do it because we can’t do anything else as a rule, either because of personality, attitude or intelligence.

A crap way to die, nobody wants to die in work, and you’d certainly not think of a HGV driver dying in work (compared to a soldier, a police officer etc)

I feel for the drivers family and also the driver / family of the other truck, and I hope he is found not complicit in the death rather than distracted… Not much of a comfort I’m sure, but some comfort…

Well I’ve been both and now do heavy recovery it is a job and it’s one I enjoy what gets to me about this post and yes I’m a new addition here, is the fact that if the prick in the truck that hit him would have slowed down rather than change lanes and go past the AA driver waving torch he might have seen the driver but he switch lanes and carried on not stopping until over 2 miles down the road, I work at the roadside and people never slow down its a waste and it could have been avoided

I agree, I also did recovery for Mansfield Group, I don’t anymore, but that was more to do with management issues than the danger of the job.

My post was aimed at lightnining who seemed to want a medal and a final salary pension, probably a few salutes and some ‘titles’ for driving a ■■■■■■’ truck :unamused:

R.I.P. Driver and condolences to his family.
Its a sad fact, that so many drivers will get killed every year due to the number of wagons on the roads. Its the old saying law of average.

■■ so where did this bit come from
You’ll find that some drivers will move to the Middle lane if something is on the HS … so before slagging off the driver think of it another way …

If what you say is correct .

If the AA man had not been waving his torch about distracting the driver , the driver might have seen the poor sod in the road …

FYI on Sat 18-10-2014 there were 3 vehicles on the HS just past JN 28 of the M5 I moved into lane 2 expecting something in either lane 3 / centre res or across the HS lane 1 or 2 so by being in lane 2 I had an option …
Like hell I did there happened to be a body in lane 2 and even though I had slowed right down it was almost imposable to see until I was on top of him …

I was there with the torch at least you slowed down at that speed he wouldn’t have seen anyone or been able to react to anything
