The New Forest you say, only that area?
Well you have New Milton Skip and ballast, 3663/Bidvest in Downton (The North one, as there are 2) or not to your liking, you’ll find more options if you look further in both Southampton and Bournemouth…
Raymond Brown Tippers,
Lambert Brothers general (pallet) haulage (Harris transport the same)
Various builders merchants…
Yes either Southampton or Bournemouth as im smack bang in the middle. Well without being too fussy, as i am inexperienced at the end of the day, but pallet or cage work would interest me. Maybe not so much builders merchants as im trying to get out of building sites as it is Thanks for your suggestions ill try lamberts and Harris transport.
Well if you want pallet work pay attention to curtainside Rigids, and Artic Double Deckers you see in your area!
And then look them up online to find their base…
The pallet network is made up of various networks operators, and each local firm seem to be an agent for one or more of the networks (there are a few), but may have their own branding identity. The local firm I did pallets for was an agent for; TPN, XPO, and HazChem in the main, but you wouldn’t know it, as it’s not on the truck!
Artic’s (often DD’s) go to the network hubs during the night carrying that days collections, and after a few hours of wait at the Hub (while the warehouse staff works out what goes where), returns loaded with all of the next days deliveries.
So in the evenings and early hours of the morning look for curtain sider DD’s, and during the day look for Rigids and probably non DD Artic’s all making deliveries…
There may be ways of hunting down all the networks and their local agent, but my knowledge on that ends here!
Tony Saprano:
A rigid job. In the New Forrest. I’d have thought Dipper would’ve been all over this thread.
But I not sure that post really works in the Newbie forum, he only pops in here when his restraining order allows…
As for Meachers, they may have a couple of Rigids, but most of their business is Artic’s…
From what I know (very little), yes they run Haulage around the country, but a big part of their business is warehousing for the port cruise liners, and you’ll see their Artic’s doing scheduled drops into the Docks daily…
They have a few sites on Nursling, each dealing with a different thing, but you want the big site/compound on the bend as that’s where their admin office is. They’ll give you a nice thick application form, tell you off for setting a single step in their yard without a Hi-Viz , and send you on your way to go fill it out…
Did I fill mine out ?
Or did I chase up my easier leads first?
Well a certain firm returned my call and got a promising chat. They’re looking for a couple general haulage drivers and for me to pop in on my way home from work one night for a further discussion. I explained im to complete my final CPC mods in the next coming weeks (touch wood) in which he remained optimistic about hopefully finding me some employment
So all in all quite promising…just hope i get in there before somebody else does.

Maybe i should have kept quiet about that last comment haha

Your timing is ironic, as I’ve just pointed that out to someone on another thread…
I’d edit out the company’s name of your previous post mate!
So I won’t quote the firm, but try to give Drivers Direct a wide berth of it’s not direct!
Mozza:
Im thinking the latter [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]
