Are Ricos still going? I thought that they went bang spectacularly with trucks stranded all over?
Reason i ask is that i saw one of the trailors come past work today, all stickered up and clean, but didnt quite see the unit on the front to see if that was also a Rico one.
Would of thought if the trailor had been bought then it would be plain by now or in the new persons livery.
Loads of the trls were sold to eastern European companies who obviously don’t want to pay out getting the curtains replaced
They are in Levers Port Sunlight regular both unit (white scania topliner) and trailer marked up
I’ve no idea if they are still going or have trailers liveried up, however we (nobbys) still have a couple of Swift trailers kicking around in the yard, that are used, and bare in mind Nobbys bought out Salvos a good 3? years back, and Salvesen bought out Swift a good 12 years or so before then!!
There was a load of Rico’s trailers parked beside the A1 near Neunkirchen-Vorden,but most of them have gone.
I do see the odd Rico trailer, but they’ve usually got plain white units on the front.
i was wondering the same thing
seen a few now over past weeks also more importantly
i have seen UK regd courier vans with old Rico sticker on 59 and 10 plates

That cant be the right Rico, the font and sticker is all different.
The one i saw though was a blue curtainsider.
I remember when i first went around Europe and they were everywhere. Then the next year i saw non(which i later found out to be because they went bang)
The firm is long gone bankrupt and the owner/s is on holiday
behind bars,last I heard.

Just be as said above, trailors bought and the Rico still left on the side.
Had some nice trucks aswell if i remember right.
they may have had nice trucks but ask the old drivers what the TM,s yes TM,s were like
if you went off route at all they jumped on you, plus the wages were not at all good sorry
it was all flash if fact Orys might be able to help here with the views of the polish drivers who
were rather upset at Ricos, in fact some hid their trucks to force payment of wages.

That is the same as the trailers going into levers but the units are topliners with just a small decal on the doors!!

I saw the RICO truck recently here in Scotland. On Polish plates, but no longer on individual number plates of Rico, but on some plates from small town, therefore I would dare to guess that there is a new owner of it (as in Poland vehicles are issued with new plates when changing owners).
As for the drivers: quick google and interesting article I found: They had a problem even with a lorries: noone (except German leasing company) was interested to take them out of them. They were offered 100 euro each and flight home for delivering the lorries to Germans, but vast majority of them refused, as they did not wanted to take company property out of Poland, as they wanted to make it available for administrators in the interest of getting their wages back. Especially that noone was interested in signing then off that they are no longer responsible for the vehicles. Some of them paid for fuel from their own pockets to go back to Poland
There was a huge problem of hundreds of lorries parked on the streets arround Polkowice (where Polish depot was), as most of the 3500 drivers from Eastern Europe decided to come there. The city council had to make a huge field available to park them all up and there was a question of canceling all parking tickets issued to Rico lorries (In Poland it’s not legal to park vehicle over 12 tons in build up areas for the night). The drivers began to occupy company property.
Sadly, I wasn’t available to find any more info on that.
saw a rigid in Oxford services today, was chatting to the driver, but didn’t know he was driving a rico truck until he pulled out. It was a UK registered 18t MAN i think, with RICO LOGISTICS on the side and back doors in the same colour and font as tha picture.
Yes RiCo Company are bankrupt so no more. There are lots of ex RiCo trailer around in the Europe - mainly Polish owner drivers pull them.
Last years I went to Warsaw and saw the trucks second hand dealer, there were lots of nice RiCo livery topline and many of trailers aswell.
Rico Logistics - English courier company are not link to Rico German Haulage.
