From what I gather, you only get one if your company has sent the port police your details forward for when you have a job in there, not too sure if you can just get one without needing it. Someone else might know better though mate!
your company has to give the port your details first, then you go into the pass office to get your photo done and do all the other bits to get your card.
slightly off topic, dont forget that if you change employers your new company must contact the port and adopt you. otherwise you will have to spend an extra hour getting a temp card for the day/night.
you need your rhides card to collect boxes from pentalvers now… not sure why
abe its just to see how much longer they can make the ques

i thought the card was issued to you individually, it has ■■■■ all to do with the company!
I tried to get a RHIDES card on my ‘own’ before getting work, because at the time a lot of jobs asked for a RHIDES Card. The Port Pigs said I need to be ‘nominated’ by a Company. An Agency sorted that, might be worth signing up with an Agency just so they can ‘order’ a card.
Pentalvers, Felixstowe?
WTF

Mine says Maritime on it, and, as others said, you had to be authorised by a company to get 1.
As previously stated the company has to send across your details to the port. We was given a copy of the email to present at the pass office (along with driving licence etc). This is so that company can then ‘adopt’ you. If you then leave at any time you become an orphan until another company adopts you.
The card belongs to you if you were to ever leave

According to the memo that was sent round its to add an extra degree of accountability. They can tell customers who has their box, which firm they are with etc etc

are you sure?
I’ve just had a look at mine issued from thamesport, also authorised/sanctioned by maritime (and I’m guessing at roughly the same time as yours) and all it says on it is
Driver
my name
card number
and expiry date
and on the back it has the return address for if its found and the issue date
doesnt mention anything about any company
you dont need to work for a company as such…especially if you say you are self employed…Got mine the same way and it dont say anything about company details on the back or front…
(mines felix port as well)
