Ministers say Rod McKenzie sparked the nationwide panic-buying frenzy by selectively leaking remarks made by a
BP executive at a private Government meeting. Senior sources suggested he ‘weaponised’ the comments to deflect blame
for the UK’s supply chaos.
Mr McKenzie, who ran BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat for more than two decades before joining the Road Haulage Association,
last night denied the claim.

Firstly the pro rail anti road transport ‘climate zealot’ anti fossil fuel use BBC infiltrates the Road Transport Industry.
The take up of EV’s isn’t going as well or as quick as the ‘UN’ and ‘climate change’ zealots want.
The government chose not to put any media blackout on a supposed motor fuel supply chain issue using a supposed tanker driver ‘shortage’ as the cover story.
More like the exact opposite. With the clear intention of creating chaos in the form of panic buying among consumers.
Which can only benefit the take up of EV’s.
No future for tanker drivers in that agenda anyway.
Join the dots.
I saw that interview also.
I sussed that this shortage announcement panic buying crap was intended as soon as it came out.
At first I thought the Govt had ‘manufactured’ it to allow them to get the foreigners back in, seems like they didnt have to, those bunch of ■■■■ s did it for them.
One of the hazards of the industry is the RHA as far as drivers go.
Those RHA scumbags - who made them the spokesman for drivers? If they had paid some money instead of having a new porsche every August we wouldnt be in this situation.

I’m not a big fan of the tories. I actually think they are ■■■■■.
But they seem geninue in their desire for the industry to sort out the issues themselves. Which I 100% agree with.
Also there visa scheme is not so bad as it expires at the end of the year. You can tell they dont want to give out visas for truck drivers and their hand is being forced.
It is not down to the government to give visas to foreign drivers. It is up to the industry to attract drivers to join the industry.
It is not down to the government to pay for HGV training it is down to the industry.
It is not down only to the government to improve facilitates at MSAs. This is where the RHA should come in. Demand reasonably priced food and good facilities. The RHA if it chose to could have these MSAs by the balls. They represent a huge amount of haulage companies who could boycott certain MSAs if the do not provide adequate conditions for drivers. But they dont do that because they dont give a crap about drivers.
All the RHA want is the government to solve a problem they helped create. Tbh I think the RHA is as bad as the NRA in America.

The rha is not for drivers, operators pay for membership the bigger the fleet/more trailers the more they pay.

Nah its not genuine. Its cos theyve done nothing but shout Brexit for five years and they dont want to look stupid by saying “can you send all your cheap labour back” when theyve just left.
i never even knew who the rha were till last week. Certainly never said anything about lousy wages and conditions.

No wonder they are screaming - they must be sick - they were hoping to go on a ■■■■■■ in barbados with the boys this summer not pay it in wages. They must be bloody spewing
The RHA have created this problem - their members are to blame - the same people who run the warehousing and logistics for the major supermarkets that keep us waiting 3,4,6 hours when we turn up early / on time / late with a delivery. The same members who’s business model depends on cheap labour to drive haulage rates threw the floor . This amounts to nothing less than driving wages into the ground so they can keep their shareholders happy.
All I can say now is - when they come boycott any company that takes them on - its the only way left to protect what drivers have gained in the last few months .

Lets remember why he was booted out of the BBC. It seems like his tactics have not changed, he is just applying them nationally now, instead of just inside the BBC. Mr Rod Mckenzie is doing his best to twist the cabinet’s arm…

I completely agree. If the RHA put their minds to it, they could create lorry parks at strategic points which would deprive the likes of South Mimms of thousands of pounds of revenue per day, which would soon push them into sorting their cartel out. They have never done a thing for the benefit of drivers; having an RHA sticker on your lorry used to be a badge of honour, now it’s a badge of shame.
Please you can not expect the RHA Cartel to invest in anything other than having a luxury life and investing for the future, that would be totally absurd,it would mean they would have to make cut backs,.

I actually did a bit of research. I found nothing on them when it came to the influx of Polish people after 2004.
I also found almost nothing on the influx of Romanians and Bulgarians in 2014 I believe.
RHA / Gov aren’t going to get the foreign labour back. I was speaking to a Polish chap just the other day and he reckons that due to the poor exchange rate (GBP to Euro) most are working in France / Germany now as they getting 2500 Euro a month for driving trucks over there. Why come to the UK when you can fill the shorfall on mainland EU and be closer to their home country. I’m no expert on economics, don’t understand it all but what he was saying sounded plausable?
“almost a million letters will be sent to people who currently hold an HGV licence encouraging them to return to the industry”. Yeah, for less than £10 an hour in Scotland for driving a truck, I’ll not bother.
Notwithstanding the Amateur wages (until involved in a fatal RTC, then you’re a Professional) the overall conditions that goes with the job ain’t really worth any amount of money. I jacked it in 2019, after 27 year, when the 1st lockdown closed the services and the shelves were empty on your 1 day off a week that you had to restock the cab fridge for the next week away.
