Reversing to delivery point

Was flicking , as you do and found this. Took 6 mins to actually get it in place, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Looking at the beginning thought, thanks to all the numpties parking there and making our lives hell as per usual :exclamation: :exclamation:
Wait till near the end, you will be surprised       :astonished: :astonished:

The bloke giving directions could’ve been better placed though

There is no excuse for that driving. He had the space of an airfield to get it in position. Plus it’s only a 30’ single axle trailer.

My ma could have done better.

   neither of them knew where they were going, and one of guys works there :open_mouth:

Quite agree Breaker, but at the offset of the vid, I thought he was going down by those cars, my comment when I realised where exactly he was putting it was “” How many shunts “”. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
I do agency work for the Co-op at Thurrock (wasn’t a Thurrock wagon, may I add ) and some of the shops we deliver too you wouldn’t want to deliver in a van. But that looked like a newish superstore and as you say, space of an airfield. Gotta show it to the blokes in Thurrock

This has been posted before, to be fare to the driver he was getting very bad instructions by someone who didn’t seem to know what he was doing or where he was supposed to be going and was often standing out of view of the driver.

Still very poor reversing though :open_mouth:

The guy trying to help is as much use as a chocolate fire guard as usual

looks like the poor burger has come straight from the test centre - they don’t teach you how to reverse the teach you how to pass :unamused:

Well he got there in the end without hitting anything, fair play to him. He obviously hasn’t long passed his test and if he’s been used to 40 footers it’s quite difficult to reverse a short single axled trailer.
I did notice the hazard warning lights were working on the tractor unit but not on the trailer.
The comments were very funny, I enjoyed watching that.

The driver lacks experience but he did no damage. The banksman was a pure numptie jumping in and out of the drivers view.the freight entrance ought to be seperate from the customer car park.an accident waiting to happen I.M.O.

There’s none quite that bad lol

There was this guy who came up to me at one delivery point, smug as hell stating “I’m the qualified Banksman and you must let me guide you out when you’re leaving.” Ok I thought. It was a blindside and I was glad to have the extra pair of eyes watching all the motors and walls. So when he walked to the back of the trailer on the passenger side and shouted “Right, back you come”, I was less than amused. I jumped out and said to him "Are you a zb idiot or something? Did your training not tell you that you’re supposed to stand in front of the vehicle so I can see you? Or was that a load of bs about you being the “Qualified Banksman” as you put it?

Maybe it’s the same guy in that video lol

What a bunch of nobs laughing at him, bet he had a right sweat on
I had a similar problem in Enfield the other week cause some idiot was telling how to reverse even though he doesnt drive lorries :unamused: After about 10 mins of holding everything up I got out had a look for my self and he showed me where to go and it was there in less then 60 seconds he really should of got out to look he would probably of had a better crack at it, although those numpties all laughing and saying he was crap etc should have a go before critising anyone they think its so funny but at least A. He got it in and B. You can more or less be sure he earns a shed load more then them per year and he doesnt have to stack the freezers for his money to NOBS!

Why did you wait ten minutes to get out and look? I’m not having a go at you but one of the first things I do is find out exactly where the truck has to go. I just don’t rely on someone waving their hands at me.

I have gotten out of the cab and walked to the back of the trailer many many times in a tight reverse. There has been ocassions where I have been blocking an entire street and have still got out to have a look.

I would rather hold up a bit of traffic than cause damage to vehicles or property. No matter how long it takes.

It took so long because the thick turk was waving his arms in the air shouting at me and then telling me I was going the wrong way and that I wasnt following his instructions properly :unamused: As it was so tight I just wanted to get on with it, there were no cars waiting to start but obviously as they mounted up so did the pressure of getting it done  I was sweating, and going forward and back and not getting anywhere fast because of this bloke and although I should of done it earlier like I said when I did get out I was fine. Inexperience is why I didnt get out sooner, it didnt look as bad as I first thought on the approach so lesson learnt always get out first if it is tight :smiling_imp: Was one of them where the trailer is needed to be bended at more then 90 degrees and brought back under very quickly and with little to no space. Never done one as bad as that but I did it and learnt by it so next time if I go there again it will take 2 not 10 mins  It actually took me 25 mins including the 5-6 attempts I had at getting round at different angles before I realised what was needed to be done :stuck_out_tongue:

One tip for you for when you are reversing under pressure is don’t look at anyone. Just concentrate on what you are doing.

If you start looking at people waiting in cars you will get all flustered and lose your concentration.

Remember this motto. “F them. They can wait.”

I had to literally LOL then thanks :grimacing:

i couldn’t make out if the trailer had a steering axle if it did they are bloody awful for reversing until you’re properly used to them. at least he didn’t hit anything which is always good news.

We have a regular pick up from a Pack House that was located in a small village in southern Spain, now relocated to a new place outside the village.

The only way in was down the main street then reverse down a narrow side street with houses on both sides, diagonally through some gates then curl it at an angle to the loading door.

It was always a bit tight but usually managed reasonably well until one trip which was done in a RHD truck instead of the usual LHD one. Now everything was on the blind side and it must have taken me ages with plenty of shunting to get up to the doors.

So now when I see someone struggling I am reminded of this and how I looked and performed like a total beginner.

we all have to learn. but blimey that was awfull how did he manage to pass his test.
fair play to the driver tho making his comments on the thread above i dont think i would have .
but at the end of the day he got it in there without hitting anything i would rather have a driver take 10 minuets to get in not hit anything. than one that gets it in 1 minuet but clips a car or wall
