Reversing excercise is changing

Most trainers will have received the letter from the DSA about a change to the much loved reverse manoeuvre.

From sometime in the Autumn the area is being reduced to 66mts x 11mts

The distance from the start cones to the barrier is being reduced from the current 5 vehicle lengths to 4 lengths for CE and 3.5 lengths for cat C.

The length of the bay is also being changed for vehicles over 12mts in that the maximum length will be 12 mts.

Will this make much difference ?

I think it will affect C+E tests more as you will then have to take a very shallow approach to the bay.

Retests at the time will obviously have a bigger problem but new trainees will merely learn the new setup

Overall, No Problem

I guess wagon and drags at 18.25 metres won’t be allowed from then either - not that many training schools use vehicles that big.

The letter actually states they have trialled draw bars at 18.75 mts successfully and why not ? 18.75x3.5 = 65.625 mts

Yes John, but isn’t CE to be 4 vehicle lengths - 18.75 x 4 = 75 metres.
