Returning to driving

Just a quick breakdown. I passed my class 1 in 2001 but stopped driving in 2005 to care for disabled son. I’m now trying to get back into it. I’ve now got my digi card (pipe dream when i stopped) and am now looking to get this stupid cpc thing done aswel as redoing my adr in tanks & packages.

My main point is when i used to drive it was all fairly local work so didn’t need the away from home stuff, but now looks like most of the work in my area is more distance driving, so feel a bit stupid in asking but my mind has gone blank to most of it now, can i use a normal in car charger for phones and sat navs in my lorry or will i need adapters or different chargers like i said when i drove i didnt need any of that stuf.

I think all trucks have both 12v and 24v cigarette lighter sockets nowadays and most if not all electronic items will happily take a charge from either. You won’t find many previous threads about being unable to charge a phone or run a satnav.

Welcome, by the way. :stuck_out_tongue:

Most car phone chargers, etc, work normally on both 12v and 24v systems.

Edit… Just checked my Tomtom car charger and my Nokia phone charger and both state 12v/24v on the charger bodies.

Like me, if you just got back to driving you might be interested in one of these, I got one and it really helps me keep legal…

Thanks for the replys. Yep i didn’t think about searching the forum  That driver-guard from amazon looks good just a bit pricey. I’m suprised just how awkward it’s proving to get back into work after a long break from driving, i found it easier even when i had just passed my test even the agency’s are saying that i need recent experience, bloody joke, you only get experience from driving, so if anyone knows any good agencys in norfolk (west Norfolk ideally) i’ll be grateful.

Are you aware of the changes to the driver regs which occurred in 2007?

Yes thanks. I’ve been doing a bit of swatting up.
