I have never worked with containers before so apologies if these are stupid questions.
If we were to collect a container from a port and deliver it to customer…
How long can the customer keep a container for until it must be returned?
Does it have to be returned to the same place it was collected from?
Can you collect another one before you have returned the last one empty?

Customer can keep the container for as long as they are allowed to keep it. It varies depending on the needs of the customer.
Just like you can have a skip for 1 day or 1 week.
It doesn’t have to returned to the same place. Again depends on your boss. If you got backloads or you just dropping the empty someplace else to pick up a full one to return instead.
Basically it all depends on your boss and your customers needs.

Depends, on the Shipping Line. They’ll have a cut off of a week or 2, then after that you get billed per day, unless you negotiate extra time with them.

Depends on which way the wind is blowing. It may go back on the dock/railhead where it came from, it could go into an Empty Container Storage Yard somewhere different, depends on where the Shipping Line has negotiated storage rates, and how full the nearest locations are.
