so if that is the case no 45 in cab what happens to those drivers that are away weeks on end and i know our foriegn brother don’t take any notice of this fact, is it one of those rules that is not inforceable. there is one company nr london that has several drivers that live in thier trucks full time, when i was inbetween houses i lived in my truck so technically i was breaking the law then
No one has enforced it “yet” but I bet there is one hell of an outcry when the first driver is turfed out of his cab at 44.59 minutes and wheeled into a pension, hotel or villa

What the hell do you do to occupy yourself for 2 days in a carpark I couldnt hack that.
Im not chained to the wheel…
Me and Four of my fellow drivers got a taxi into ashford centre on Saturday lunch for a shandy…
Sunday i lay in bed until late morning. Then went for a shower and a nice carvery lunch before a steady walk up to the French connection pub at the roundabout. A few more shandies and a pleasant chat. Then walked back to the truckstop and watched arsenal get spanked by swansea (which made me smile even wider).
There is only Harry Monk who has mentioned the Salami knife in the cab, at night time a driver may have a bad dream and maybe stab himself or a friend who has come knocking on his door, they should be kept in a locked box outside the cab.
I couldn’t find anything in the rules about kitchen knives in cabs but if you saw my cullinary skills there probably should be.
Would the easiest way around the 45 hour rule be to have a reduced weekly rest of 44 hours on your first weekend away and then compensate for it every weekend until you return to base?
Although I had access to couchette I was woken by my neighbor operating his strimmer, does this mean I have to start my weekly rest again or can I add it on to the third week in question.
One of our drivers was recently cautioned for this in France.
He was heading out to Italy and taking a 45hr at a motorway service station.Police came in Friday and recorded number plates.
They came back on Sunday and checked his tacho,he was told that this stationary period did not count as a 45hr break as breaks taken in the truck were only counted as a shortened break. As he was heading to Italy he was only cautioned.
I do not see how they can enforce this to be honest.
