rest

As long as you have 2 large knives, one for uncooked meats and another for everything else then it does count as weekly rest.

Fileep:
it is an offence to have a full weekly rest(45 hours) in a truck! Not a lot of people know that(said in a Michael Cain accent)!

How does that work for European drivers who are out for over a week ? Imagine doing a trip from Northern England to Eastern Poland or Turkey for instance and needing to take that weekly rest !

  1. You don’t have to take a full weekly rest every week.
  2. There are other places you can take a weekly rest instead of in the cab.
  3. It’s not enforced. So far.

I don’t sound like Michael Cain. :imp: :smiling_imp:

Michael McCain then! HTH.

The french have tried to enforce it from what i heard the other day.

If they ever did try to properly enforce it simply carry a tent in the cab and tell them you camped out next to the truck as you are aware its illegal to reside inside the vehicle

You learn something new everyday…

fuse:
Weekend rest should only be permited at home or in a hotel at least 10 miles away from vehicle. No food or refreshment to be eaten from fold down tables in the trailer and no large knives (used to cut cheese ,salami etc ect) to be carried on the vehicle.

Yep.We could load 2 Pallet more with a Daycab.
And a Tent were by sure not aceptable

Me… Parked in ashford since 1830 Friday until early tomorrow (Monday) morning … Quick send the police!:lol::lol:

Ah no, it’s not illegal to do that, so long as you had a 45 hour break at home last weekend, and you have a 45 hour break at home next weekend, all it means is that you have taken a reduced break this weekend, regardless of the fact that you will have been parked at Ashford Truckstop for longer than 45 hours this weekend.

As others have said, you could have complied with the letter of the law by carrying a tent and camping next to your truck this weekend.

hmmm so your not allowed to take 45 hour breaks in the truck…oh well just means ill be staying in more hotels…not.

like kindle weve spent days/weeks parked and living in the truck, we haver everything we need (apart from a bog/shower) i dont wanna be moving stuff out my truck to go to some poxy hotel which is probably minging for 45 hours.

Once you hit 45 hours it’s no longer a reduced rest, even if you want it to be. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I expect pitching and sleeping in a tent next to the truck in Ashford would be a…, err…, an aromatic experience.

As I understand it, a weekly rest taken in the truck can only ever be a reduced rest.

Indeed, but a reduced rest has a maximum length and before you go past 44:59:59 you have to move the vehicle before it turns into a pumpkin.
