On a job I sometime do we travel to the delivery places&then don’t have to do anything as all the unloading is done&we usually do about 4/5 drops so I just get my head down which at some places can be an hour so I am maybe having anything up to 3 hours rest without doing a thing, I’m I correct in putting the tacho on bed as i am not doing anything but sleep or read the paper

If you’re not helping with the unloading or doing any other work you can legally put the tachograph on break.

Thanks for your replies, I thought I was right but I was told by somebody that you cant have extended break times same as what I have on that particular job , I asked why & was told it resets everything &messes up your hours etc , I said that doesn’t make any sense to me & the conversation ended there.

The person who told you that needs resetting and messing up as they’re a blithering idiot. Quite apart from the fact that they were reffering to POA and not break.
If you get a 3hr break in you can then take a 9hr at the end of the day and it doesn’t count as a reduced daily rest.

The 3 hour rest has to be in one piece, not three seperate rests of one hour for example.
