can some one tell me if its up to the driver to deside if he wants to take a 9 or 11 rest or is it up to the employer
Ultimately the driver but may be encouraged by an employer to fit in with their schedules?

The employer can schedule a reduced if the driver can legally do it but its up to the driver whether to do it or not especially in regards to safety
Its one of the biggest bug bears in the trucking world if a reduced has been scheduled when at base - some people can be perfectly ok on 5 hours kip whereas others need 8 hours kip to be safe when driving
My view is that this issue needs to be addressed at the job interview so that both sides know where they stand
As long as the job is done on time, up to the driver. If I need to take a 9 because of the run - so be it. I guess if it’s routed that way, then it is up to the employer…
That`s where signing with agency lets you say go screw your self, but nicely obviously
Up to the driver.
If you aren’t fit, don’t do it.
If you are, fine!
