Rest days question

Hi,

I’ve been given work by an agency next week working nights on Friday 17th, Sat 18th and Sunday 19th. Shift starts at 6 pm and finishes around 4 am the following morning. That’s fine. I’ve had another agency asking me to work days on Tuesday 14th Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th. Can I do this because my final Sunday 19th shift goes into Monday 20th which will be the 7th day even though it will be the 6th consecutive shift? Thanks.

As long as you’re done and dusted no later than 144 hrs (6 x 24 hr shifts) after you started your week you’ll be fine providing all other rest requirements are ok.

If you start work on Tuesday 14th you will need to start a new weekly rest period no later than the same time on Monday 20th.

For instance if you start work at 06:00 Tuesday you need to start a weekly rest period no later than 06:00 the following Monday.

The fact that you’re doing work on 7 consecutive days doesn’t matter as long as there’s no more than 144 hours (six 24 hour periods) between weekly rest periods.

Weekly rest is required 6 times 24 hours from start of week.
So, if you start work at 05hrs00 on Tues 14th you need to start weekly rest on or before 05hrs00 on Mon 20th.
If you finish before 18hr00 on Thu 16th you will already have had a weekly (reduced) break by 18hr00 Fri when you start for 2nd agency.
Were assuming no work (or a full weekly rest) before start time Tues morning. Ill stand correction, but think that`s correct.
Edit Yep same as Bald Bloke and Tachograph, I must be improving.

Thank you. I should have at least an hour spare because I stated that I finish at 4 am just to be on the safe side but I usually finish around 3 ish.

Anybody know of a good comprehensive guide on driving hours without being a government type document? It would be great if they did a ‘Drivers’ hours for Dummies’ version.

I don’t know how to link it but page 3 drivers hours feedback topic. A very clear and simple guide
