On the contrary mate your posts are often helpful, don’t take it too personal we all get things wrong sometimes

As they say “It’s only the Internet” :stuck_out_tongue:

tachograph you have a PM

I get it all the time when I mess up but that is the way to learn.

I sometimes try just about everything I can think of to refute what the other person is saying but in the end only one answer is usually correct - not usually mine

Only if it gets away from the subject matter and becomes personal (not including friendly banter) should any offence be taken.

If friendly banter offends then a simple quoting of the bit you do not like with something written underneath like - I don’t like that - will suffice and usually the person who made it will apologise as they did not mean it to offend

If something written is not clear then those who know the writer may ask questions or try and interpret it in the way they think the writer meant it. This does not always work but no intent of any kind to the writer is meant.

I wonder how many times I have written drivel or not made myself clear … no, don’t bother counting as you will be here for ages…

Hi Del,

I have to agree with tachograph… whatever you do PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t stop posting in here.

IMHO, you very often come up with great ideas that nobody else had considered.

Also, as tachograph said, we all get things wrong now and again
(except if your name is ROG, cos he’s very good at what he does.  )
I’d say that it’s best to use something like that as a learning experience, because NOBODY IS PERFECT.

Now to the very good point that you made…
One weekly rest is required per week (now think of “at least” or “as a minimum.”)
Clearly it is an offence to have anything less than ONE weekly rest per week, but please think of it as there is NO maximum number of weekly rests, nor is there a maximum amount of rest per occasion that a driver could take in a week.

For instance, I could do three shifts in a week… would I be prosecuted if VOSA discovered that I had had more time off than either the 24 or 45 hours as fixed amounts stated in the Regulations??
(No, because these are minimums)

In the same way, could I be prosecuted if I extended my driving hours to 10hrs, but only did so once in that week?
In that case, no because “two occasions” is a given as a maximum per week, so I’d potentially be in trouble if I did that three (or more) times in a week.

When you look at limits for anything, it should be clear as to whether it means a maximum, or a minimum.

Besides all of that, if you don’t post in here again, I have to warn you that the Monopolies and Mergers Commission will probably come after you, because you’ll be the one who allows ROG a monopoly. :open_mouth:
Surely, you wouldn’t want to do that would you??

Don’t be daft, you’ve said that two or three times before and your still here thankfully. Calm down, it’s only an internet forum and not the real world.

Leaving us with just ROG would surely come under the heading Cruel and Unusual Punishment. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

hi all thanks for the input to my post but that’s it for this forum will be still on trucknet but not posting here any more

best of luck to you all :frowning: :frowning:

Guys, thanks to all of you for your input on this thread. It just goes to show how ridiculously complicated the rules are and how they are somewhat open to interpretation. They are particulary complicated, if like me, your shift patterns are irregular.

However, if I do manage to work 6 days on the bounce this week then I will be ready for the required 45 hours plus.
