Hi Del,
I have to agree with tachograph… whatever you do PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t stop posting in here.
IMHO, you very often come up with great ideas that nobody else had considered.
Also, as tachograph said, we all get things wrong now and again
(except if your name is ROG, cos he’s very good at what he does.
)
I’d say that it’s best to use something like that as a learning experience, because NOBODY IS PERFECT.
Now to the very good point that you made…
One weekly rest is required per week (now think of “at least” or “as a minimum.”)
Clearly it is an offence to have anything less than ONE weekly rest per week, but please think of it as there is NO maximum number of weekly rests, nor is there a maximum amount of rest per occasion that a driver could take in a week.
For instance, I could do three shifts in a week… would I be prosecuted if VOSA discovered that I had had more time off than either the 24 or 45 hours as fixed amounts stated in the Regulations??
(No, because these are minimums)
In the same way, could I be prosecuted if I extended my driving hours to 10hrs, but only did so once in that week?
In that case, no because “two occasions” is a given as a maximum per week, so I’d potentially be in trouble if I did that three (or more) times in a week.
When you look at limits for anything, it should be clear as to whether it means a maximum, or a minimum.
Besides all of that, if you don’t post in here again, I have to warn you that the Monopolies and Mergers Commission will probably come after you, because you’ll be the one who allows ROG a monopoly.
Surely, you wouldn’t want to do that would you??
