Well i have to take my hat off to you guys that do max hours each week, ive just done a 13 and a14.5 hr two days on the trot and am now completeley knackered im now off till next sunday as i only manage 2 days aprox a week and try and split that up, on my shift yesterday seven hours spent tipping and loading ,how the hell can you do a week of this especially if your on nights. so my respect goes out to you.you sir are a proper driver.

I completed 65hrs last week, start at 11am finish at 1am, 600plus Kms daily,

great work, 900 kms every single night and i probably have a 10 minute break and leave the cab once (by choice), 7 hours sleep at the other end and then run around loading trailers and then 900 kms again that night. repeat, rinse…

I put in 72 hours last week on a 6 day week, just had my weekend break and feel ready to hit the sadle again tomorrow. Wouldn’t change a thing either. Lol
I can’t wait to get a job and get back to long days, I need a rest.
Being unemployed ■■■■■, when I’m not out job hunting the wife has got me practically re-building the house and landscaping the garden.
I look forward to days off when she just lets me be a couch spud again.

In the 1980’s hauling meat starting at 3am Monday if by 2pm on Wednesday I had not done 40hrs I was having a bad week and by 1pm Saturday after cleaning the rig I usually had clocked between 85 / 95 hrs ( good old log books ) so I estimated that in 5 years I had actually worked 10 years and thats why I took early retirement at the age of 59 now its just a bit of casual to Supermarket RDC’s over winter to pay for the 6 months holiday I take touring Europe which makes it all worth while.
At busy times like Easter and Christmas a 25/26 hour day was the norm starting at 5am doing local runs then loading late afternoon going home for some dinner then out on a night delivery usually to Iceland Coldstore or Bejams Coldstores collect fresh meat from abbatoir then back to the factory and home to bed totally deadbeat ,
Aye the full timers have my respect.
I find days fine but most of my work includes at least a fair bit of night trunking which is a piece of ■■■■ but leaves me really wrung out after maybe 4 shifts, I reckon a lot of that is that its rarely the same start times/run/wagon so I never get a chance to adjust. If I get more than 2 shifts the same I consider myself lucky, recently I’ve mostly been brought it because things have gone slightly pete tong somewhere, rather than sick/holiday cover.
