Let’s say someone has a photographic memory. And lets assume that person drives down the road scanning number plates… As you do!
Can you imagine that call to the coppers?
“Hello i need to report car reg XYZ”
“Why do you need to report it?”
“I read on a truck website they are potentially involved in crime”
“Are you currently a victim of a crime?”
“No. But trucknet said said call if I see them”
Talk about making a fool out of yourself. Absolutely ridiculous.
I drive a white transit all night no markings.
If a criminal wants to clone my plate then he will. If you post on the internet registrations of vans and areas criminals will simply change the plates.
Romour has it in scotland the is a gang with 1.2 million quids worth of stolen cars hidden away ready for use.
Criminals are always going to outsmart the police.
What chance has a paranoid lorry driver got. If you ont feel safe stay at home.
cav551:
It’s not the reg numbers that anyone will recall but three silver/ grey cars and a blue Espace together that will stand out.
I bet vin dielsel is driving the audi up front. Hel come up your right side looking to overtake then slide it righ under the trailer between the legs and back axle to lhard shoulder before you know it you will be reaching for your shotgun wondering whats going on
Honestly. Your brains must be fried.

Do you really think putting these registrations on this forum will have any effect?
.
Yes, why would it not?
The lad did right putting it on here to at the very least make people aware I reckon which I suppose was the purpose of his post.
I had an episode a few months ago that I put on here (that a certain clown on this forum ridiculed me about
)
I gave the reg of the van following me and trying to stop me over a distance of about 30 miles or so , and later found out from the Old Bill that it was a dodgy reg…(or maybe I had misread the reg
)
I’m as far from a drama queen that you could ever meet, but I really thought that Transit van (with unknown number of occupants) were on me that day, I was carrying wines and spirits.
If you’re pulling out of somewhere with a high value highly desirable load, you tend to make a mental note of what is following you and for how far (well at least I do) so any info could/would potentially be useful I reckon.
For the reasons I already gave. I agree an observant driver may notice a suspicious vehicle(s) and take the correct action. Putting reg plates of certain vehicles is almost ridiculous.

Another ■■■.
If you think that why not explain why, otherwise you look like some of the other gormless ■■■■ on here. No explanation, just abuse.

I could also say you or your company are ■■■■ too. Do you really think putting these registrations on this forum will have any effect?
Do you really think anyone who looks at them will remember them and and notice them if out and about?
And if they do do you really think they will bother to report them?
Get real .
As I said any driver that notices a particular vehicle following them for mile after mile should know what to do to keep safe and get the situation dealt with.
I’d happily report if seen…but then I’m an ex monkey.
These plates will have come from old bill intelligence.

I think what you need to remember is that much of the membership on here come from the lower echelons of society. I say this not to be rude. But I think intelligent discussion and reasoned debate is something they can’t comprehend let alone master.
It’s a shame. But we have all experienced these types. Doing manual jobs and dreaming they are the most important people in the world. They get hostile towards those who they know are better than them. Rather than aspiring to operate on that level they would rather roll around in muck with people on their own low level. Giving bile and abuse to those simply out of jealousy.

I reckon you’ve just illustrated and proven your last point yourself very well.

Just a heads up we have had at work.
Keep safe guys and girls.

I spent years driving on nights and being hijacked was always on my thoughts. Couple of times I thought it was going to happen, obviously it never did.
I’d assumed that this sort of thing just didnt happen anymore. Too high a risk when you can just pop into services, cut a curtain and empty a trailer into a van or two with zero chance of getting caught.
Maybe with the roads being a bit quieter these days, the thieves are a bit more brazen.
Anyone noticed its the never going to be a lorry driver so long as they have a hole in their arse, and the i’m only doing this job for a hobby or whilst my real career takes off, types ridiculing the OP.
And nope, there are some that are beyond help.
Last year a lot of our drivers were targeted for tobacco thefts, trailer cam footage showed that more often not they were followed by cars with cloned plates.
Although at one particular theft involving an axe an ex driver was caught red handed after lifting his mask up.
However if you call the police and quote operation ash then they will know the score

This [zb] forum never ceases to amaze me

A lad comes on a forum for truckers trying to give a heads up to anybody who carries valuable loads and who may be interested, and he gets ridiculed and lambasted for it, …interspersed with the odd pedantic stupid [zb] comment, then it’s broken down and analysed.
Get a [zb] grip some of you ffs.
I agree. Some folk are just too stupid to be helped.
Clap for our heroes…The truck driver who goes out at night and gets highjacked. Is it south africa now we have a “pandemic”

what a load of pontification sammym, you failed at being a driver and now resort to abusing your betters .
why not just shuffle off to whatever it is you aspire to and stop boring us with your nonsensical witterings…

Heres an idea. Say you know your loads worth 1mill. Tell some friends who have connections
Get ■■■■■■■ for the night do police interview and never work another day in your life.
Either that keep moaning about working 60 hour weeks for a pittance and keep driving for cash after retirement?
I know what i would do.
Perfect time to do it as well.
This is not my own view i seen it on the BBC news.

We are well used to certain people who frequent this forum and insist on trying to wind people up, or go on about a zillion things they have done or are better than others.
We are all very diverse on here and collectively may have done many many jobs and have skills that others might not.
And thanks for calling me a lad, makes me feel less old [emoji4]

My old boss gave me the best advice .You dont work for me , we work together . Any job is important look at the even the million pound homes they need gardeners to trim the lawn and hedges.
With all the ANPR the Police have, you’d think they could find these cars themselves.
