Replacement mirror glass

Hi guys, it’s not really truck related, but…

I just noticed that Scots celebrated some tennis victory by smashing mirron in my car parked next to the pavement. I am now looking for replacement mirror on-line and all I can find to my model (it’s not the most popular one) is one of these glasses that you just stick to the old, broken one… I never used this before and I wonder if they are worth the hassle, or I should dig deeper in my pocket and go to the dealers?

Providing the glass is still in the mirror the stick-on ones are OK. I’d buy from a shop though, so you can see the reflective quality before you part with your cash.

And don’t worry, they didn’t mean it personally: they mistook you for an Englishman

Good idea, I will check with the shops first, but I would be rather surprised if I’ll find one to my model of Daihatsu readily available… But asking never harms. Thanks!

I’ve bought these from Halfords before and they’re fine. All i would say is just check the price online first, in some cases its not worth waiting for an internet order if you can just go to your local store and get it.

Yep go to halfords some arse clipped my mirror on a focus I had I think it cost me just under £15 fitted fine but make sure u line it up before putting it on once there on there on failing that try a local breaker the problem was my mirrors were heated and with the stick on ones you loose that but there cheaper then a main dealer replacement.

Just been through a similar situation with Dad’s 59 plate Astra…done a massive 11k miles. Within a fortnight BOTH door mirror glasses literally dropped out whilst shutting doors normally. I got the replacement one’s from internet with adhesive panel on reverse. Both were fine, very good in fact. You may need to remove broken glass to get to & clean back plate. Make sure you clean off well…I used neat TFR on a rag and of course you only get one shot at correct location. Cost about a fiver each with free P&P. I’ll look for a link.

EDIT: source for both lenses was ACEPARTS via Amazon.

I’ve used the stick on ones a couple of times. Just bought it from Halfords. Perfectly fine and does the job.

Orys, does the place you do the courier work for have an account with Dingbro ?
They do car AND commercial stuff and can usually find quite obscure stuff.

I’ve been to Pakistani parts shop today, they were checking for me in Dingbro and this other one starting with M and said that Daihatsu dealer is my only option if I want the original mirror glass… Thanks anyway for the advice.

have you looked on ebay mate. I got a stick on glass for the wife’s Civic a few weeks back from a seller called car-parts-market. It arrived next day, and was a perfect fit. They seem to sell them for most motors.

I found these guys, if I won’t find original one, then I’ll go for it.

Thanks!
