Anyone know if it’s possible to renew a digicard early - as in very early !
Mine doesn’t need renewing till Aug 2019 but form only says ‘at least 15 days ‘ so would DVLA accept an application now?
Plus any way to pay fee other than postal order, haven’t had cheque book for donkeys!
You’d think DVLA would join 21st and accept online applications and payments.
You can for nearly every other licence/card so why is Tacho different?

Haha none whatsoever current card fine and fully intend using- I just was going to next card and keep in wallet ready
Besides if I get next card surely it will only be valid from expiry of current

If there’s something on your card you want to lose you’ll need to lose your card.

Same with CPC - Got hours in very early so not rushing last minute

Not sure about renewing early but I got my renewal letter about 2 months before my current card expired.
Just rang them up, paid over the phone and my new card arrived in 2-3 days.
Now sits proudly in my pocket eagerly awaiting it’s first insertion. Due to the size of my wallet it’s quite an unsightly bulge, but I’ll struggle on.
DVLA wrote to me when I still had 2 months to go on my card. I filled in the form and they sent a new one , no hassles.

You should have the old one uploaded by your employer and then keep it with you for 28 days after it expires so you can make it available for downloading at a roadside stop.

No because you are then driving without your previous 28 days records
I’ve just had a quick look at the regulations and cannot find anything that limits when a driver card can be renewed so I don’t know if the DVLA would renew a card over a year early.
The best thing to do would be to phone the DVLA on 0300 123 7721 and ask them.
